Powerade or the like, also plain chicken broth can be really good to keep your electrolyte balance up. If you are losing a lot of water and just drinking plain water you can get "diluted" which ain't real good. I second the "eat little but often". Whatever will stay down. Hope you have someone there who can be really nice to you! |

I found that diluted lemonade was good too as your body needs a little bit of sugar. Got anyone who can make you some chicken soup? Good boy for going to the docs for once. Try not to swallow snot, obviously. Even if all the coughing ,hacking and blowing does gross people out. |

Toast is good on a bad Timmy Tummy, ginger ale (with no fizz) and soda crackers might help too. Question: What is a beenie weenie? ___________________________________________ If at first you DO succeed, try not to look astonished. |

When I got sick with strep/abscessed tonsils a little over a year ago, I had a really bad reaction to the antibiotics and was nauseous/vomited for about a month. Along with antinausea medication (that didn't really work) my Dr told me to try jello as a fluid. He said to try anything that I thought I could tolerate to keep me from getting dehydrated. ~ Mae West |

Fallout Moderator Communications Specialist Posts: 6416 Kudos: 4053 Votes: 742 Registered: 29-Jul-2000 | Thanks everyone I am feeling better now than the last week, but not as good as last night before bed. I munched the toast most of the night in little nibbles and had some water. I got up and had two more pieces of toast, a little glass of orange juice and some more water. I'm getting a little cold and tired, so i'm gonna get some more toast and lay down again. Thanks for the help, i'll try something a bit more substantial later |

poisonwaffle Mega Fish Posts: 1397 Kudos: 591 Registered: 11-Feb-2003 | Aww, git feelin' better, TimmAY! Maybe try some regular bread (read: not toast) instead? Gatorade/powerade is good... maybe try some applejuice if you can stomach it (always makes me worse, but might help somebody)... You'd be surprised that carbonated drinks can actually settle one's stomach... I dunno how or why (one would think that the CO2 would make it more acidic, but it doesn't, apperantly), but it works for me. Maybe try some 7-up or sprite or sierra mist (they're all the same thing, basically )... or I suppose ginger ale would be alright too... Hope ya get feelin' better soon, d00d! |

just beginning Moderator Literature Nerd Posts: 1879 Kudos: 1380 Votes: 198 Registered: 17-Dec-2000 | Ginger, ginger, ginger. Either as a soft drink, in a juice (can be a bit intense if you're sick though), in biscuits, or in tablets. I have a very weak stomach, e to nausea, and ginger is my number one cure. Once, when I was so sick that I couldn't even keep water down and was getting very dehydrated (it was self-inflicted - too much cheap wine ), my doctor gave me a shot of Maxolon, and tablets to take home with me. I tell you, for me, that stuff was poison. It stopped the nausea, but the side effects were awful - it kind of over-stimulated my body so that I felt tense and jittery and every time i fell asleep, it would have me jolting awake seconds later with a nervous rush through my stomach. This went on for hours and hours. Perhaps it works better for other people, but after that I will stick to the more natural remedies I think. Even a bit of ginger powder mixed in with noodles helps me when I'm feeling under the weather. You'd need to test a bit to see what you can stomach. If you use a bit more, it also helps warm the body from the inside out if you're getting cold or chilly feeling. If no ginger powder could make ginger tea with the real thing, then put drops of it in soup, noodles, or even water so it's not as strong tasting The Amazon Nut... |
