Matty, those snow pics are just gorgeous!

I'm much like babel though, cant ski...

*imagines herself far away from hot Melbourne weather attempting to ski*

Before you criticize someone walk a mile in their shoes. That way you're a mile away and you have their shoes.

Thanks babel, you'd be welcome anytime!...and you shouldn't be ashamed, you should just learn. I bet it's hard to find a good ski resort near you though.

That's why you gotta make your own hill(and have other people take pics of you jumping into it). That hill is up to about 5 feet of densely packed snow. It's coming along nicely.

Midnight: I'm actually not in DC, I'm in Maryland, the outskirts of the DC Metro area.

I guess it's not gonna snow today, they keep changing their minds. Sunday we are "suppose" to get multipul snow storms ... whatever that is exactly...

But the way I figure, if I wake up and it looks bad out, I'm probably not going into work... no use on counting on anything like that around here ahead of time.

Yeah? Well I can get into my car and drive for two and a half hours and then I'm in the Sierra Nevadas, which has some of the best snow in the world.

In fact, I just went there a few weekends ago. I went up there for the snow, but instead I just spent most of the day shopping.

ok rub it in, rub it in...Here I sit in my sandals comfortable, running the AC in truck and house, yes I am in the US, no it is not cold. I was in the above mentioned odd ball snow "storm". We are all still talking about it...for most of my students it is the first snow they have ever seenand for those my age that have lived here all their life it is about the 5th time...or it is for me, of course I've lived from Beaumont to ElPaso in Texas so the weather varies...really nice to see the pictures though, and know I'll be wearing shorts tomorrow and not freezing Enjoy the snow Babel and Ferret, I'll enjoy the heat for now .

we got about 1.5 inches last night, supposed to get another 1-2 inches tonight as well. i shoveled this morning and thankfully the garbage guys actually picked up my trash this afternoon (they won't do it if the way isn't shoveled). so i'm glad they picked it up cause i may not get up in time to shovel tomorrow morning

Well if you got some ferret, then you know I did too!

I am like... North East ? of Babel at work right now. We've got 2 inches here so far... it's starting to die down at the moment however.

Like always, the traffic in DC came to a grid lock because of a few flakes of snow *oh no*.

Babel... did you take that picture WHILE driving? Bad girl... that could have caused an accident.

Meriadoc: Oh don't worry, Babel and I both live in the 2ND worst place, in all of America to drive, we know... all to well. hee hee.

I live in an apartment complex, so they are SUPPOSED to clean ALL the walkways... but when noon is looming and no one has been around, then it is too late to wait any longer. My husband was 25 minutes late to work as it was because it took me so much time to make him his paths and to do the car.

That was very sweet of them to come clean your walkways and car, and especially sweet of them to clean it for the lady next door.

When I got my husband to work they had not even touched the parking lot there. I had to go get a snow shovel and make a big path there for him too! RUDE! UGH! THAT made me mad! When you know you have a handicapped person working for you, make the effort to shovel a little path for crying out loud!

As tired and coughing as I was when I got home, the little old lady down the way was using a broom to clean off her van and I stopped and offered to help her. She was not planning on going anywhere though... just wanted to make the next cleaning easier and was nearly done when I got back.

Had to call 911 dispatch as soon as I got in the house though because there was a little old man nose end down off the side of the on ramp to the freeway trying to get out of his car. I slowed down to assess the situation, but there was nothing I could do for him but call when I got home or I would have caused an accident of my own. In this sort of weather I feel even more obligated to assist those who need it because I am certified in CPR, first aid, and blood borne pathogens. I am just not the type of person to slow down and rubberneck... I always have to help!

PS I am making a pot of chicken soup tonight, just because it's supposed to be cold this time of year, so why not have soup, right? Come on over Tim, Liana, and Babel!!! And anyone else Heidi

I love chipmunks, but don't have any.

We had a neighborhood squirrel named Charlie. Charlie ended up being a she. Everyone in the neighborhood liked Charlie and she especially liked me - so much so, that she climbed up my pant leg when I was walking to mailbox one day. Man were those claws sharp. She lived well over 7 years, quite long for such a rodent. She came down with a bad case of Mange about a year before she withered away. The vet gave me a free bottle of ivermectin and said - 2 drops on one walnut, once weekly until hair grows back. . She would have died without that med as the hair on her back was completely gone, from neck to tail. And, she was full of scabs from scratching. She ate straight from my hand, otherwise the vet wouldn't have given it to me. Turns out the vet was a squirrel rehaber.

Awww - and look who showed up for dinner .

The menu featured walnuts and raw peanuts. Its hard not to be empathetic to any critter out in that cold, especially when she says, "Please!".

Oh Stormy - I empathize with you as I deal with asthmatic bronchits. God bless my brother who came over with his buddy and snow blowed the yard, brushed my car off and even did the courtyard of the 75 year old lady next door. Even tho I'm in a condo, they don't touch the yards - only common areas. I offer 10 bucks to a kid around here and they snub their nose at it and its such a tiny area it normally takes about 15 minutes by shovel with lesser snowfalls.

Here it is cleaned up and note the outdoor color at 2pm - nice dark grey as a good size cell goes over. It should be done soon.

We are in the middle of the blizzard and it can stop ANY time now! I have shoveled paths to almost everything outside, had to go out driving in it (lots of cars off the road... even one snow plow), and just scraping all the snow off the car took a good 20 minutes! UGH! Doing all of this with asthmatic bronchitis sure has sent my lungs into fits, but my husband is in a wheelchair and can not get around without paths dug through it.... so, I had no choice! GO AWAY SNOW!!! ]:|

Dear Mr. Weatherman,

We are just getting ready to shovel about 12 inches of your 5 inch snow prediction.

Oh - and that's a six foot fence.

Warren, Michigan - January 22, 2004.

Hey! What is the prediction for the playoff game areas? I'm in Michigan so is this tomorrows weather for Phili and....where else are they playing - New England or Pitt?

Diane

Ohhh Marc, Dani and Jorge, be careful on the roads. Sounds very dangerous indeed, watch yourselves.

Here in Cincinnati OH, we got a couple inches of ice! Up to last night, they were calling for measurements in feet of snow, but then they changed it to snow and sleet. But, we got ice instead. piles of ice balls! and the roads are a sheet of ice. Cars all over the place. I wish we would have gotten snow, this stuff is dangerous.

we ended up with about 21 inches, took 3 hours to dig the car out! And that was only snow in 24 hours time!
