Various Thomas the Tank Engine books, Dr. Seuss, If You Give a Moose a Muffin. Real Classics! Although, I am eagerly waiting for the 12th and final Book of the Wheel of Time series, by Robert Jordan, to be published. Rick See all my pictures at Google Web Albums |

crazyred Fish Addict LAZY and I don't care :D Posts: 575 Kudos: 360 Votes: 293 Registered: 26-Aug-2005 | While we're speaking of reading, does anyone have "reading disease" like me where, when you start reading a really great book, you just can't seem to put it down??? I started "The Stranger Beside Me" by Ann Rule this weekend and I can't stop reading it. I stayed up until 1:30 am reading it and had to get up at 6:30 am to get ready for work. It drives me crazy, but I just could NOT put it down. I brought it to work with me today hoping to sneak in a few chapters.....I'm a sick woman. Anybody else suffer form this?? P/S: Reading about Ted Bundy late at night is a serious mistake for a single mom!! I was uber-paranoid when I finally did put it down and went around checking that all my windows were locked. Good thing too, one was unlocked... a Serial Killer could have sneaked in. "Beauty is in the eye of the beer holder." |

fish patty Fish Addict Posts: 539 Kudos: 223 Votes: 255 Registered: 04-Oct-2006 | crazyred- Does your yellow lab welcome strangers in & shows them where your valuables are? I have 4 indoor dogs. I don't worry about strangers. They say, we become what we behold. If you're not going to become a serial killer, then you are going to be a nervous wreck just reading about them. Stop that! Or at least just take a break. |

crazyred Fish Addict LAZY and I don't care :D Posts: 575 Kudos: 360 Votes: 293 Registered: 26-Aug-2005 | LOL, good point. Rose (my yellow lab) would lose it if anyone came into my house. heheheh. It's just too easy to realize what can happen out there when you read about stuff like that. I think it's a good example of 'what not to do'. FYI: Ladies, don't let a stranger with a seemingly broken arm, leg or any other appendage talk you into helping him do anything at or in his car no matter how gorgeous and 'normal' he seems. That's how Bundy made off with most of his victims. Only a few were attacked in their homes. "Beauty is in the eye of the beer holder." |

Last semester there was a guy near our campus who was acting drunk to trick a girl into going to his apartment with him. Fortunately she got away, but not until after a lot of really bad stuff Back on topic though, I'm currently enjoying The Silver Chair ><> |

Because there's a chance that my LFS has acquired some rare and oddball Characins. They don't look like your regular bread and butter Characins, and my first thought upon seeing them was "Wonder if that's Mimagoniates microlepis?" As you do of course Having got the book in front of me, I'm wondering now if they might be Glandulocauda inequalis. Hmm, both Innes AND Fishba Chances are he'll have sold the lot before I get chance to go back with the camera because he only had 12 in to start with. Sigh. |

Troy_Mclure Fish Addict Posts: 725 Kudos: 306 Registered: 20-Jan-2003 | Peter Jackson - a film makers journey by Brian Sibley. I didnt like it that much. I was expecting more anecdotes but it was pretty boring. 2/3rds of the book was about lord of the rings or king kong and on the other 1/3rd 'lord of the rings' or 'king kong' was referanced on every second page. What I was hoping to find was more actual stories about the cast and crews on filming of his earlier films. Im sure there were many amusing tales but all I found was a lot of blurb about getting approval from film houses. I just picked up my december copy of TFH and am going to read that for a bit. |

He was the one of the main detectives on the 'Ted murders' in the Pacific Northwest that ended up being committed by Ted Bundy, so when this Green River Killer in Washington State started on his rampage, Keppel went to the "ultimate" serial killer for advice on how to catch him. Very interesting psychological study, indeed. Incidentally, Rovert Keppel is the only guy to whom Ted Bundy fully and freely confessed before being executed...they were most shocking confessions indeed. kitten Fish Guru Meow? Posts: 2266 Kudos: 2194 Votes: 19 Registered: 18-Nov-2003 | My book of choice changes daily, but usually consists of light reads that I read between calls at work. Currently working in a inbound call center and any stories with more "bulk" to them get a bit confusing when you only read a moment here or there and get interrupted by the people that call. *rolls eyes* Thus, the succession of uh... "bodice rippers" if you want to call them that. Trashy romance novels of the fast-reading variety. I tried bringing in Chicken Soup for the Cat Lover's soul... bad choice. Kitten tends to tear up a bit at some of those stories. Callers don't need to hear me all choked up. I just "inherited" my aunt's cat on Sunday (I'll make a post in the near future showing off Lucky), so I've been beefing up on my cat-knowledge. Much as I love cats and am obviously affiliated with them, I've never had one of my very own before, so I'm doing some necessary reading. I'm in the middle of a book titled "Is my cat ok? : how to know... when your cat won't say" by Jeff Nichol. Interesting read, actually, and the author thinks he's a bit of a clown. Amusing. Props to goldfishgeek... I love Laurell K Hamilton books and own almost all of her books. Just got finished re-reading Mistrel's Kiss and Danse Macabre. In any case, I mostly read fiction, heavy into the fantasy aspect of things. I only read nonfiction when I'm in the mood or am interested in learning something on the subject, thus the cat books. *shrugs* ~Meow. Thus spoke the cat.~ |
