I'm like, dude, let's go, what on earth are you doing? As he gets into the car he says, "there's a dead fish over there, like your sucker fish." I was like, "you're Sure it's dead?" To which he replied that it was dried out and stiff as a board. Sure enough, when we went to investigate there was a good sized pleco (about 8 inches, looked like your standard common pleco) dried and stiff by the bumper of a car. The bf picked it up and it clattered when he poked it and moved it along the pavement it was so mummified. It makes me so mad... It wasn't there the other day, but this fish looked like it had been dead a while, and completely dried out. I'm sorry, but whether the fish died of natural causes or someone took it out to get rid of a too-big-for-a-small-tank pleco, there was no reason to just dump the body in the parking lot. Grr. And if it Was due to someone being naive enough to have a common pleco in a small tank and then just dumping it... I'd happily strangle the person that left it to die instead of finding a new home for it! Sigh. ~Meow. Thus spoke the cat.~ |

I agree with monkeyboy, there really should be more regulation for this hoby, not just banning snakeheads. Many stats require licensing of various animals kept as pets, it'd be just as easy to include fish such as RTCF that grow way too large for the standard aquarium. I've seen them easily available in pet stores near me. And lets not even go into "painted" fish waters. |

I rember i saw a dried pleco in a petstore, that had its eyes and everything intact. Lets say a little prayer for it(All religious people please).........May it live in peace with all the other fishies in the BIG fish bowl in heaven...................I hope it finds my platy up there too..... ><> ~=!Vote Today!=~ <>< -----> View My Dragons <----- |

I have no idea how it came to be where it was. Perhaps the owner was transporting it uncovered and is mourning its loss. Let's think on the generous side of human nature. It looked like it lived a good long time so I am sure it was treasured. ~~~ My fish blow kisses at me all day long ~~~ |

If I can get my hands on a trowel, I'll give Mr Pleco a burial. Unfortunately, I don't have anything in the way of gardening implements and the ground is still pretty frozen, I'm sure. ~Meow.
