Got the idea from an article I read recently, and now I am trying my hand at reselling stuff on eBay part-time as a minor second income....slow so far, and I have only 6-10 auctions/week at this point, but I am hoping that I can eventually manage about $500-$1500 profit/month.

Look at my auctions, and tell me what you think....and how I might improve my listings/descriptions/etc....I am open to any ideas on how I might get more views/bids on my auctions (and remember that I know just the most primary html, so be gentle):

I would personally <center> the images, and possibly make them thumbnails on the multiple image auctions. It cuts down on load time for those unfortunate souls stuck with a conventional 56k connection. If they feel it's worth looking at them closer, that's their perogative.

Make them uniform font sizes (3 dvd kids set) Nothing ticks me off than to see 8 different font sizes in 13 different colours spattered throughout an auction.. it just screams "junk" and i move on.. yours is tolerable however.

Other than that, they're simple and to the point. No fuss no muss!!

Tim is spot on for his recommendations; in addition for the multiple item auctions I would include the word lot in the title for search purposes.

Empty chairs at empty tables, the room silent, forlorn.

Good luck on ebay. I have thought of trying to sell excess items I have around the house on ebay myself.

After having a bad experience a couple of times, I now only buy from people after knowing their return policy. Yes, people could write you to ask whether you have one, but it would make it simpler and it would also be an advantage if you put it in your return policy in your auction. Even if you don't have one and you don't want people to return anything, let people know. That will save you some unhappy customers.

Now, you have a negative feedback there. Might not be your fault, I don't know, but try to resolve this with the seller to have that feedback deleted. I personally wouldn't buy from anyone with a positive feedback of 94.7%.

Shipping charges should be given in the space provided for it by ebay at the bottom of the auction. Whenever I read an auction where it says "Check item description" and the item description is quite long, I just move on.

Last thing, I think it's best to keep things short and to the point. Some people don't have the patience to read long descriptions that say nothing to them, and some people just get lost half way and move on. I personally think that all this advertising ("I got a great deal...", "great way to stock the tackle box", etc) is a waste of space. Anyone who views your auction are already half convinced and this is not what will convince them to buy. What will convince them to buy is good price and low shipping charges.

This is my opinion at least.

I have just listened to a talk on eBay today. The person giving the talk has turned it into a full time very profitable full time business within two years.

It does require a lot of hard work and some research when either buying or selling
Good luck with your new adventures.

Could not be helped....he is actually under investigation by the RCMP, FBI, Scotland Yard, Immigration Canada, Nintendo, Gucci, and eBay for production and selling of assorted counterfeit goods in three countries. I am contacting eBay (with whom I have been co-operating in this investigation) about them deleting the entire transaction, feedback and all.

I have planned on listing it there, too, but to make it stand out, I put it in bold.

Somewhat as a pitch, but also to increase search results by adding associated words that come up in description searches. Seemed better than simply inserting a list of random words (and adding a subtitle in the listing is a bit pricey).
