I have been off line for over a week as I got a worm virus.
I have a firewall, spyware and nortan anti virus. (I now have panda)
I spent hours on the phone to micro soft and in the end I had to scrub my pc down to nothing. (well my friend did) I think it's called re configuring. Anyway it's a bad one. You get a timer comes up to say you have sixty seconds before shutdown and there is nothing you can do about it! You may be on for an hour before it happens but the time inbetween keeps getting shorter. At the very worst, the moment i GOT ON IT WAS SHUTTING ME DOWN. Please be carefull

Wasn't that the Sasser worm that just required a little patch to fix...?

No it wasn't. Microsoft said that was what they thought it was. Got the anti virus patch but it said my pc was clear. Then they thought it was another virus but still the 32 , that was clear as well. It was a 32 worm but it kept changeing files. Pretty nasty.

Most viruses are designed to get around Norton, so are the trojans.. Can't tell you how many times I was called to fix a pc that had Norton installed.

Here's a free link to an online virus scan.

It's the company that makes pc-cillin.
If it cannot clear it, it will identify it for you, then you can look up a fix on google.

The best thing I ever done was take out Nortons. Now I run a very good Antivirus system VET, as well as a firewall, I also update my MS Critical service packs and updates regually

norton is a terrible prog IMO. It will take windows out quite happily if it thinks there's a virus in a system file. Maybe it's just me, but I'd rather know there was a virus and be able to save my email to a different partition before losing windows, rather than have windows just be killed on me!

I like to think that whoever designed marine life was thinking of it as basically an entertainment medium. That would explain some of the things down there, some of the unearthly biological contraptions
