The news is filled with the HUGE weather pattern across
much of the states... Here in Colorado, we have been in
the -10 to -40 degree range at night and a daytime high
of -2 to "0" for the past three days.

But the ARCTIC stretch will break and bring us into the
balmy "+" teens in another couple of days.

How is everyone else fairing?

Frank

Wish we had some snow (no my tailbone still hasn't recovered from my snow trip in july but I want snow anyway!)

The floods have receded and life is slowly getting back to normal. Just in time for a cyclone the size of katrina to hit Cairns.

Radar image from last night. Cairns is in the middle, cooktown to the north is 161 away.

http://www.theaustralian.com.au/news/nation/a-storm-bigger-than-hurricane-katrina/story-e6frg6nf-1225999044073 Some good infographics in that story.
Luckily Cairns fared pretty well. I'm hoping the reef is ok, and not too many dive boats were damaged.

In the southern part of the state here the weather has been hot and humid with rain in the mornings.

WOW!
Those graphics were amazing. When we heard about the
typhoon striking Queensland, here in the states, we had
no idea how big and powerful a storm that was.

Between the flooding and now the typhoon, much of Queensland must be totally devastated.

We have a friend there who Susan and I talk to over the
radio frequently. I've not heard her on in a while,
I'll try to get a hold of her and see if some of her
friends can locate her.

Amazing...
