Get lots of sleep and stay out of the cold. I have found the salt water very helpful for nipping infections in the bud, and the lemon/honey helps with pain. Tastes awful works a treat ------------------------------------------------- I like to think that whoever designed marine life was thinking of it as basically an entertainment medium. That would explain some of the things down there, some of the unearthly biological contraptions |

If you have a head cold stay away from milk and milk-type products. Lots and lots of juice and water ~~~~~~~~~~~~ There is water at the bottom of the ocean |

If so, then I have quite a tale to tell you .... Between 1993 and 2000, I had no less than thirty-two doses of tonsillitis. I've been through more or less the entire antibiotic register - penicillin betalactams, macrolides, aminoglycosides, cephalosporin betalactams, you name it, I've taken it, including top of the range synthetic penicillins with betalactamase inhibitors for some of the nastier strains of the bugs. On one occasion I had to cycle 7 miles to hospital to get it seen to because it was Easter Sunday and my GP practice was closed ... when I got there, the nice lady doctor took a look at my throat and her first word was ... "Yurck ..." she then said that I had the worst throat she'd ever seen on a living human being! That was when it was decided to arrange a tonsillectomy. Which, cross fingers, did the job. I've had, if memory serves, just two sore throats in the ensuing six years afterwards, and both of those were accompanied by virulent flu bugs. Oh, a word of warning. If you NEED a tonsillectomy as an adult, get it done as early as possible. The later it's left, the worse the post-operative pain. I had mine done at 38 years old, and it was less than delightful to put it mildly. At first, all seemed well, then suddenly, it felt as if I had molten lava in my throat. I needed to numb my throat with half a pound of ice cubes before I could take the soluble paracetamol, it was that bad! However, once the military strength painkillers they administered kicked in, it was a LOT better. If you need a tonsillectomy, be sure that they prescribe Diclofenac as your main painkiller, as it's also a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory and cuts down the swelling. Just be warned that the first dose administered is via rectal suppository ... It was seriously bad for the first 24 hours after the op, but once I'd recovered, I'm glad it was done. Kissed goodbye to unwanted sore throats ever since. Oh, my recommendation is a throat spray called Ultra Chloraseptic. Contains benzocaine. Watch that stuff - don't overdo the dosage, as if you do, it heightens your aggression! |

This isnt for everyone, but it should dehydrate and kill any bacteria you can cake salt onto. (I cant do this, but this came as advice from one of my chemistry teachers, I would use this if I could though) Chaos |
