Hi,
It's neat seeing where everyone lives. Good idea.
This where Susan and I live.
The red star marks our home. Its in Park County, Colorado.
We are at 10,000 feet elevation inside the Colorado Rocky
Mountians. We have several heavily treed acres, and as
you can see we are enclosed by National Forests.
We are a 35 minute drive over packed dirt and gravel
mountian road from The nearest town Como, CO (pop 200).
The County Seat is in Fairplay an old gold mining town
that is a 40 minute trip over a mountian pass. Our nearest
full time neighbors are a mile away.

I got started in CB Radio in the early '60s and soon became
a Ham Radio operator. Cell phone use is spotty at best
in the area, and many use CB or Ham Radio to chat.
For those of you who watched South Park on the TV... It
really does exist, and I live smack in the middle of it.

Frank

Hey Frank,
My wife loves the Hand Hotel in Fairplay. Every couple months she goes there for a few days to just hang out and write.

I guess I should put my map up.

http://www.mapquest.com/maps/map.adp?searchtype=address&country=us&addtohistory=&formtype=address&searchtab=home&address=&city=montrose&state=co&zipcode=81401&searchtab=home

Montrose Colorado, I can see the San Juan mountains from my deck. You can zoom out to see where it is in the state.

The trouble with computers is they do exactly what you tell them and not what you want.

I've tried linking twice and both times it took 6 tries to get it right.

Sorry guys and girls for not getting back to you sooner, been a bit unwell with an abscess on my tooth.
Anyways, thanks for all the replys. This is so interesting, getting to see where people live. And glad that others thought so too.
Like when someone says I live in Texas, that could be like 3 states eg: micheIIe That must get confusing.
I notice a lot here live in New York and California.
Frank: Your area must be very beautiful. Do you see much in wild animals?. I know that must sound silly, but where I live, you don't get to see many animals, let alone wild ones. Just the normal dog/cat and the occasional rat.
I love wolves and bears. Mainly the grizzly.
The CB radio year was 1985. I just look up our old QSO cards. We spoke to in Canada/ New York/ Texas/ Oregon/ Denver/ California/ Alabama/ Illinois/ Hawaii and the Never lands. If you had an old ham set back in the 60's perhaps we might had spoken in the 80's What was your call sign?.
Whetu: your map looks so life like. Never been to NZ. For that matter never been out of oz.
Calilasseia: Living near Liverpool, that must have some interesting history there. Like the Beatles etc.
I love places with history. Exspecially American/Native history and I just LOVE their custom jewelery. And wolf t-shirts etc.
One day I will get to travel, and the Grand Canyon is first on my list. and I won't leave out Canada.
It sound funny birds flying south for the winter, here they fly north or freeze to death.]
Havagoodday and catcha all again soon. Thanks again for the replys.

Heh... I live close enough to forest preserves that we see a limited amount of wild animals (besides the normal squirrels, rabbits, birds, 'possums...). However, it's a shock to see - on a normal, suburban road, and a decently busy one at that - a fox walking across the road. Yes, and it was using the bloody crosswalk, too!

Beautiful animal, but I have NO idea what it was doing there... quite a distance away from the only other place I've seen foxes around here, which would be by my dad's work, across the street from a forest preserve.

kitten: thats so funny. The only fox you see around here is what we call "roadkilled" (dead on the road)., or out in the bush. They are classed as a varmint here. Brought on over to cult the rabbit. Alot of good that did. I'm not into the culling thing, but by hubby used to go outback and cult the roos (kangaroo) and the wild pigs (razorbacks) and the diseased rabbits. If they didn't, come summer and the boughts, the roos/ picks would chase the sheep away from the water holes. So they had a thing called culling - where you get a certain amount of tickets to get down the numbers of roos/pigs and foxes/rabbits. After the tickets are used up, then you not allowed to shoot anymore. I know it may sense, cause the farms would have been over run. But I just run along to be with my hubby, but I didn't join the hunt. I love animals too much.

I'm somewhere between Pasadena, Deer Park, La Porte, Texas.

I figure I can take claim to all three since the other night we ended up with all the cops from the 3 different towns assumably arguing over who would have to write the report(LaPorte pulled some guy over, my apartment on the right hand side of the street are in Deer Park, and the left hand side of the road is in Pasadena, but heck the main road is LaPorte at that part...so see I can claim all three. But honestly, the address is Deer Park. Big Red star marks me Heidi
