Kangaroos are strict herbivores, so what would be the point of killing people's pets?

I have a feeling that article is a lot of fluff.

you have obviously not met an angry roo!

those things can slice you to ribbins if they so desire. Not usually the greys, but the reds are something that should be avoided.

Ever seen one balance on its tail and boot with all its might into the belly of an exqually aggressive male? send you into next week!

Not as scary as your big cats and bears, and usually very passive, but gee, i wouldnt ever want to try to take on an aggressive male.

They wouldnt have wanted to eat the dogs/humans, it was probably a mix of fear and territory aggression.

we are seeing many more natives now, the drought is driving them all in to developed areas (where people water their lawns) and well, things get tricky from there.

yea i have no doubt that the roo killed that golden retriever dog out of territorial/defence issues

it's the same issue we have right now with black bears, males are forcing eachother out and where the usually don't go, they are ending up because of food, etc.

Roos have been known to go into farm dams (they can swim) and if a dog chases them, dogee no more, they just hold them under the water until they drown. A big aggressive male can kill very easly.

Article mentions Canberra is watering golf courses and parks. I don't think so. I am in Sydney and our local oval is BROWN because it hasn't been watereed for so long.

This drought is terrible and I should hope that Canberra has restrictions like the rest of us...you know city of politicians setting a good example and all <grin] yeah sure!!!!

It's true. Dogs tend to chase kangaroos, so the roos fight back. They don't bother eating them.
