Well, due to several bad occurances with chicken and red meat as a child, I rarely eat the stuff. So I make up with it by eating lots and lots and lots and lots of seafood.

The only way I can do it though, is to pretend that they were never alive. Because once it was alive, it had a face, and a name. And we shouldn't eat things with names.

There is nothing quite so good as eating a trout you caught yourself.

Very, very tasty.

Since getting the fish tank, I do find it more difficult to eat fish. But I really never cared to eat many animals to begin with.

I eat fish. Yep I like my fish, wouldn't eat them if they were big enough. Maybe it's sentimental attachment or something. I wouldn't be a good farmer I guess.

Mmm... good question. I'm not a big seafood person in the first place, mainly because we just don't get the opportunity (my dad hates seafood and really doesn't even like the smell much). We never have seafood at home and never go to seafood restaurants. Not that I don't enjoy having fish every so often when we go out to a general type of restaurant. I guess not growing up with seafood as a regular part of my diet, I can either live with or without it.

Has having fish changed my ideas on seafood? No, not really. On the other hand, I feel no remorse about beating up on one my friends who looks at my tanks and then mentions sushi.

since this thread is about what people will and won't eat and is not really aquarium related I am moving it to the Recovery Room.

Jason

ps. I love several kinds of fish (salmon especially) and some seafood.

I don't really eat fish, other than the occasional Tuna sandwich, but it has nothing to do with my hobby. I've never liked the taste or smell of most fish/seafood for some reason.

Ever since I was a kid, the smell of fish sticks and tartar sauce would induce a near-gag reflex in me. Bleecch!

I only eat fish occasionally and then it has to be mile fish. I don't eat fish because I really don't like the taste. (Shellfish on the other hand... yum!)

I don't eat fish. I hate the small, and everything about all seafood. The only fish I'll eat is tuna, when it has lots of that mayo/pickle relish sauce on it. The smell alone of fish makes me gag. My whole family jokes about it.

They shade the glow of it with their mossy-misty costumes,
They wear masks of silk, porcelain, brass, and silver,
So as not to mislead with their own, ordinary faces.

I just thought of a pretty intresting and curious question. I've noticed after looking on this site many of times and reading and replying to tons of forums, that most of everyone here cares deeply for their pet fish. Don't get me wrong, so do i ! But i was curious to find out if everyone here is opposed to eating fish as well ??? I mean i love keeping my FW aquarium, its quite the hobby.........but i mean..........on occasion i do love having a good salmon feast, or lobster

So does everyone out there greatly oppose this ??? or do u fish keeping experts also eat fish ???
Just curious...

I'm with Janna, I don't like the smell at all, but I will eat a tuna fish sandwich after mayo and stuff is added. Since I never liked seafood, fish keeping couldn't really change my mind about it. But it has changed my mind about going fishing.

There are a few types of seafood that I have eaten that I am not really fond of, but for the dishes that I like... Nothing's stopping me from chomping those down any slower than other good recipes.

I definitely, positively, totally LOVE eating fish. Lobster, crab, trout, salmon, tuna... fried, steamed, smoked, raw... kina, paua, pipi, tuatua (sorry, don't know the English words for those ones) you name it, I'll eat it.

On the other hand I'm quite conflicted about it, especially as commercially-caught fish suffer as they die, and end up being crushed and/or suffocated to death. There is no way I could watch my darling pet fish suffer like that.

So am I a total hypocrite? Yes, I think I am

Life isn't life without salmon, lobster, and mussels. Orange Roughy is pretty good too.

Love, catching, cooking and eating all sorts of fish, especially tropical Aussie fish.
Any way it is a very healthy food if cooked correctly.

I do not eat red meat, but do (and have done since childhood) eat a lot of fish, both FW and marine, and a lot of shellfish.

I don't like the taste of fish much either other than the occasional tuna sandwich. I can choke down a fish fry (haddock) on occasion, but since I work in a resturant and on fridays 80% of what we serve is fish fry, I'm sick of it without even eating it! I can eat shrimp but the smell of any other shell fish gags me.:%)
