They are VERY big jars... is the ice in them to cut down on the ammount of actual drink required to fill them? like Maccas?

Yes, Shannen and Marc have it right, we use them in the south, usually after we have emptied out and eaten whatever was in them, towards spring they are everywhere, by fall we are back into using glasses, because we've canned/put up everything we can find, and have no more mason jars...if someone ever gives you something in one do NOT throw the jar or the ring away! they can be reused next year! but you can chunk the seal, it's gone now! Jeez how many gallons of blackberries have i picked? How many tons of tomatoes have i helped put up? Oh yes, I'm a southern girl...born and raised! Heidi

PS Nice Pic ya'll!!!

Those were quart sized Mason Jars. The Mason Jars are what us "country folk" use for canning our fruits and veggies from the garden, so we can have them all year long. They make great glasses, and I even use them at home for drinking glasses. The Mason Jars, come in sizes, pint, quart, and gallon. As for the ice taking up space in the glass, well, you only paid for one drink, all refills were free, so it did not matter how much ice was used. lol.

It was great meeting you guys! We had a lot of fun. Sorry you couldn't make it, Kendra and Rebecca.

I came home with 5 German blue rams for $15

I took A TON of pics of Marc's fish, but I'm only showing you 30. My camera started to die, so a lot of them are dark You can see them [link=here]http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/lilagluckpilz/album?.dir=ae85&.src=ph&store=&prodid=&.done=http%3a//pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/lilagluckpilz/my_photos" style="COLOR: #FF82AB[/link]

In the pic from left to right are: Jason (Jason_R_S), Marc (ACIDRAIN), Jorge (Racso) and me.

Indeed Shannen. It was a Roadhouse Grill, where you get buckets of peanuts and your drinks in Mason jars. Yes, those were genuine

*sings*
And we like to drink our beer from a Mason jar
mmm mmm mmmmm mmm mmm I love this bar

Except in this case it was diet Coke, Sprite and sweet tea... ah yes sweet tea. Another southern favorite that brings back memories of my childhood summers spent in Georgia

Drinking from jars is actually very common in the South.

I think they were at Roadhouse Tim. The jars are apart of the theme.
