Ok so I just ran the battery of tests and found that my gh and KH are out of wack. Anybody got any ideas on who to adjust the KH up and the GH down at the same time? My gh is 19 my KH is 2.

Any help will be appreciated.

Hi Jim,
The generally accepted way to lower the GH is by doing
water changes with a mixture of tap water and either
Distilled water or Reverse Osmosis (RO) water. Either are
available from a grocery store. RO systems are readily
available from nearly any hardware store, especially the
larger warehouse types (Lowe's, Home Depot, etc.).

The easiest and best way to increase your KH is by simply
adding baking soda, such as the Arm & Hammer brand. Be
sure that the baking soda you choose has no additives.
Note that when adding the baking soda, it will raise
your pH, so don't go "whole hog" right off the bat. Keep
the pH swings to less than two points and wait a minimum
of 24 hours before adding more to allow the fish to
acclimate to the shifting pH.
