What are the tank deminsons, any live plants? What are you interested in adding to the tank? For the water peramaters I assume you mean 0 ammonia and 0 Nitrites when you say good? You may be able to go high but more info will help others advise you Chaos |

leana Small Fry Posts: 10 Registered: 19-Feb-2006 | Thanks for the quick reply! Tank is 30" x 12" x 15"high. I only have plactic plants because i have never had any luck years ago with live plants. Ammonia is .125 Nitrate is 5 nitrite is 0 pH is 7. That was last night's testing. Due for a water change today. I was thinking of another flame guormai (mate died 2 weeks ago) And I do like the looks of diamond tetras but that would mean getting at least 6, right? New Aquarium and loving it! |

I also have an Amazon Sword that has taken a year to outgrow the tank. If the platys are all male or all female you should be fine adding some more fish, but if they are mixed they mate like rabbitts and will over-run your tank with fry. If you don't feel the need to raise the fry this is ok, then the other fish will keep the platy pop. down. 6 diamonds at 2.4" each may be too many, that's over 12" of fish and you've got quite a few already. Rather than adding another school, how about filling out the schools you have. "If you're afraid you'll make a mistake, you won't make anything." -Family Circus |

leana Small Fry Posts: 10 Registered: 19-Feb-2006 | Good advice everyone! Thanks! I think I will wait 2 weeks since I just added the corys Friday night. Then just get 4 more lemon tetras. Platys are 2 females and one male and I think one (or both) females are pregnant. I will let nature take it's course on that one. I don't expect any to survive. New Aquarium and loving it! |

Mine group stick together a lot and even more if im cleaning the tank or something. To help keep all your fish health do wait to add more untill ammonia is at zero. How is everything else in the tank? any pics? Oh, I asked about the tank dimensions because a tall tank can not support as many fish as a wide tank for the same gallons because the wide tank has more surface area that can disolve O2 for the fish to breathe. Live plants also have an effect on this. Chaos |
