Old Text:A great shell dweller, but a very aggressive fish.
New Text:AOcellatus greatconstantly shellchallenges dwellerintruders, even to the point of locking lips, but aits verybest method is bluff. Truly aggressive shelldwellers, such as Lepidiolamprologus hecqui (syns. Lepidiolamprologus meeli, L. boulengeri) or Telmatochromis "Temporalis Shell" will dominate ocellatus if the former calls the latter's bluff. This is certainly no relatively peaceful, sedentary Neolamprologus ornatipinnis, but it's certainly not a psycho Variabilichromis moori, either. It can handle its own, but is not driven to kill off other fish if space is adequate.

For fun, put your hand in the tank near an ocellatus and get bit! It doesn't hurt, but it's surprising, feeling like the world's smallest electric shock!

Rejected because I don't feel it's appropriate to encourage taunting and stressing out breeding fish by sticking one's hand in the fishes' territory. I've done necessary maintenance on many Ocellatus tanks, and though I was always as careful as was possible, it was clear that the fish were under a significant amount of stress. Also, the comparisons to other cichlid species are not needed.
