Wingsdlc Fish Guru What is this? Posts: 2332 Kudos: 799 Registered: 18-Jan-2005 | Well I think in an other thread I talked a littel bit about this tank set up but I wanted to post a picture of what I have going on right now. The picture (2G hex) Right now I am not really able to do much with this set up because I don't really have the time. This is what I have in mind though. -Adding on a small hang on the back filter later this week. -Creating a rock mound that crawls up the back wall of the tank. -Have DW poking out of the rocks. -Rocks are covered with Moss or mosses. -For fish I am thinking a Male Betta and maybe a couple of dwarf cories. 19G Container Pond [IMG]http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y118/Wingsdlc/Ric |

If you dont have much time consider this first a tank that small for a Betta will take up some time with the water changes alone. It is usually the smaller the tank the more work it can involve as there is basically no room for any errors at all. Have a look in [link=My Profile] http://www.fishprofiles.com/forums/member.aspx?id=1935[/link] for my tank info Look here for my Betta 11Gal Desktop & Placidity 5ft Community Tank Photos Keith Near enough is not good enough, therefore good enough is not near enough, and only your best will do. I probably wont add any fish to it until this summer when I have the time to take care of it. Right now I just want to mess around with it and make it look pretty. 19G Container Pond [IMG]http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y118/Wingsdlc/Ric |

I have a small rectangular tank with no cover, it's 7.5" high and my betta has never tried to jump. A good thing about a cover though is that it helps contain heat in the tank. The hex is really too small for cories. ~~~~~~~~~~~~ There is water at the bottom of the ocean |

I hope.... Here is a link for the filter 19G Container Pond [IMG]http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y118/Wingsdlc/Ric |

I would assume that small tanks can lose significant amounts of water in no time, right? That may be a problem when one goes away for a few days. Wings - The rock wall in the back seems like a nice idea, but have you considered that it will take up significant real estate and as such lower the net tank volume even further? There will be not much space left to house multiple fishies. Just thinking, Ingo |

I don't know if keeping the sand that deep in the back is gonna work. Your gonna create problems with air and get anaerobic bacteria. What are you using for light? My Scapes |

Wingsdlc Fish Guru What is this? Posts: 2332 Kudos: 799 Registered: 18-Jan-2005 | I was thinking of pulling some sand out and replacing it with some florite or reg. gravel. At least in the back. I really want to keep this thing open with the grass and plants coming out of it. I like that a lot. As for fish I might stick with just a betta. Water loss. Not that much. Maybe an inch or so per week. Water for this tank has been coming from my 40G. Maybe I should set up a drip line from the 40 to the 2. JK that would be a mess..... Ok tanks everyone for your coments. Class time! 19G Container Pond [IMG]http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y118/Wingsdlc/Ric |

Wingsdlc Fish Guru What is this? Posts: 2332 Kudos: 799 Registered: 18-Jan-2005 | Was in a rush to catch the bus and forgot to talk about my light. On this tank I have a Coralife 18W light. I think the tank is about 2G so that would give me 9WPG but the light is hanging from my loft about 8 inches above the tank. Plus doesn't it take more light a smaller tanks because it just shoots out of the glass? Guess thats it. 19G Container Pond [IMG]http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y118/Wingsdlc/Ric |

Wingsdlc Fish Guru What is this? Posts: 2332 Kudos: 799 Registered: 18-Jan-2005 | Just a little update. Still no fish in this tank. Maybe sometime next week. there is a betta at work I have been eyeing. White body with a read strip on his back, bi-color fins (red by the body, white at the tips. Pretty cool. As for the scaping I don't know what I am going to do for sure yet. Might be a little bit before I get a go on it. I did get a little filter for it though. Its a Red Sea, nano-fliter. Might want to add one more some day. 19G Container Pond [IMG]http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y118/Wingsdlc/Ric |
