As you can see I thinned things out a little. I also added another bag of Eco-complete. I found that putting tall growing plants in front of each other wasn't very pleasing to the eye, and the plants in the back were shading the red luge too much. I think with this layout, in time most/all of the equipment should be hidden behind the plants after they grow out a little. I don't want to cover the filter intake tube too much, it also doubles as my bubble counter. Thoughts? Comments? Advice? Here is the before. Shannen attached this image: |

Add more of the stem plants due right of the driftwood (ludwigia?), because the few stems on the right look rather dull and undergrown when in juxtaposition with the vibrant and beautiful growth on the left of the dritwood. I'd also collect all your java fern plantlets to creat one large fern bunch, and place it behind the rock on the left, with your already large and well established fern. Hygro difformis should be bunched together in the center (trim the leftmost stems and replant them), and should be pruned to desired bushiness. Add more sag. subulata in a line to the left and right extremes of the tank to join your existing sags; it makes for a good carpeting/continuation of texture. Sparse plantage breaks up the aquascape a bit. Cryptone wendtti grows big, and may break up aquascapes if misplaced--I like how you placed it on the side. The plant will attract many a glance once at full folliage. Overall, great tank, just needs a bit of organizing. |

If you look down at the bottom of the bunch in the center you will see some short wisteria. This tank has been a challenge to aquascape due to the shape. Yes that is ludwigia on the right. The little piece you see on the extreme right is what I saved before tossing a lot of it out. It got too much shade from the wisteria, and a lot of it had died off wile I was out of town. There is some new lud I have growing in another tank that I will move in after it gets a little taller. The Lud they sell around here is only like 6 inches tall at first. The tank is 21 I buy new sag when ever I see it. The problem I'm having is it seems so do other people. ]:| Thanks for the comments...I'm already thinking about what to do next... Drop it down more, or move it to the right that looks a bit more grown in ? Did we decide that was a sword in the front....that's a bit too center for my tastes, and I didnt notice the driftwood till a second or third glance....maybe placed horizontal in front of the sword. Cant wait to see it grow in though looks lovely! ^_^ [hr width='40%'] And though it’s red blood bleeding from her now. It's more like cold blue ice in her heart. It certainly is a big improvement and I would still suggest several moves. Relocate the heater to the rear RH corner it is very distracting. The large plant front and to the right of center could be placed towards the RH end Then those removed plants placed where that large plant came from. Keith Do you have a backing? If not a good flat black would help. Near enough is not good enough, therefore good enough is not near enough, and only your best will do. I VOTE DO YOU if not WHY NOT? VOTE NOW VOTE NOW |

Shannen Banned Posts: 1160 Kudos: 1686 Votes: 98 Registered: 17-Feb-2004 | The rock work is the backing. I might try the black tho. I was thinking about moving the sword/? to the right. I'm just concerned about it's ability to get enough light. Right now it is under the CF light that provides 2/3rds of the lighting to this tank. I should try it now tho, before it gets established...Thanks. Heater: Done! |

Shannen Banned Posts: 1160 Kudos: 1686 Votes: 98 Registered: 17-Feb-2004 | No not at all. Thanks. I promise a better cam is on the list.. Well I tried to move that sword to the right. The bugger just would not fit. It's too big. I can't move the drift wood because it has a function. It's backside is home for my little BN girl. I did get to breaking up the hair grass, and micro sword, and rearranged the red lud a little. I will put more of it in the extreme right hand corner, as soon as it is tall enough to poke up from behind the drift wood. *yawns* I'll post some pics in the morning. I did get a good pic of my whiptale tonight! |
