Adding limestone rock to community tank | |
crusha Enthusiast Fish Geek Posts: 262 Kudos: 183 Votes: 102 Registered: 11-Nov-2005 | I have found a really nice piece of limestone rock with a tunnel running through the centre which I would like to put into my 53g community tank. I know that it will raise my ph. My ph is currently around 7.0. I would like to know if this will bother my black ghost knife fish (cant find the profile on them, its gone?). I have some gold and blue rams, clown loaches, yoyo loaches and an angelfish. Will it bother them, I will only be adding one piece and I have had it soaking in a bucket for a couple of days. Should I add it or not??? As much as I like it I wont add it if its detrimental to my fishies. Thanks for your advice Crusha |

IF you never changed the water, over a period of time it (pH) would probably reach 8.x. But, you do regular water changes and I would say that the change in pH would be hardly noticeable, perhaps shifting only a point or two between changes. I don't think it would affect your knife fish as you would not let the water go for that long. Enjoy the piece of rock in your tank.
