chrism Enthusiast Posts: 152 Kudos: 109 Votes: 19 Registered: 14-Jul-2004 | This is my 18Gal... Im trying to create a nice looking reasonably planted tank, im not 100% happy so thought i'd post some pics and get some constructive criticism / advice it's mainly the right side im unhappy with, but any suggestions at all on anything welcome My thoughts: • scrap the onion plant "Crinum thaianum" and find another more contrasting plant • scrap the dwarf hair grass "Eleocharis acicularis" not sure my pictus like it too much • If im scrapping any plants, i would be happy to swap them (uk) • I like the vals, would possibly like some corkscrew depending on suggestions from this post My fish include: bolivian rams, pictus cats, cardinals, red eyes, bristlenose cat... MTS Light: 2.5Wpg for 12 hours, 1 x daylight plus, 1 x freshwater, 1 x plant grow something or other lol Sand... no CO2 at the mo, but have been advised to try DIY which i will look at over christmas when im on holiday Thanks some pics: http://uk.pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/bh_hffk/album?.dir=6ea2&.src=ph&store=&prodid=&.done=http%3a//uk.pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph//my_photos Last edited by chrism at 05-Dec-2004 15:16 |

It looks like a newly planted tank that needs to grow into itself and mature. That being said, I think I'd thin out the left back and move some of them to the right to begin to block the sight of the filter and such. The two moss balls break up (disturbingly) of the front of the tank with the driftwood and that nicely leafed plant on the left. I would not have bought those curosities and instead, left the front open for the small plant on the right to grow into. I would have used glosso for the carpet plant, it's greener and grows low to the surface, rapidly. Let the val or sag which ever it is grow to fill in the back and later intermingle with the cabomba for contrasting leaf styles and colors. chrism Enthusiast Posts: 152 Kudos: 109 Votes: 19 Registered: 14-Jul-2004 | yes it is newly planted, only a couple weeks or so... i was planning on shifting those balls over to my other tank (when i get it) as that one isnt going to be planted. I was thinking about shifting the amublia over to the right as well. Will glosso work with the amount of light i have? 2.5wpg i've decided the hairgrass is def coming out. and the onion plant too |

The Glosso should be fine. Frank -->>> The Confidence of Amateurs, is the Envy of Professionals <<<-- |
