Aquascaping a 29 Gallon | |
zachjc_14 Enthusiast Posts: 205 Kudos: 211 Votes: 24 Registered: 20-Apr-2004 | I have a current 29 that is void of any organization known to mankind and I was wanting to incorporate fake plants, terra cotta/clay pots, and artificial driftwood. I would like to incorporate the environment appropriate for angelfish. Any suggestions? Thanx in advance. |

Personally I prefer a natural-looking aquascape so I would go for a single large piece of real driftwood rather than the fake ones but that's up to you. Try the hard scaping pieces out in different positions in your tank, and avoid making a tidy, symmetrical pattern. Then get a variety of silk plants and 'plant' the taller ones at the back of the tank, medium ones in the middle and the shorter ones at the front. You could also graduate them so, for example, the back right corner of the tank has the tallest plants, then they gradually get shorter towards the front and the left. Plant around the hard scaping to incorporate it into the design - have plants behind, in front, or even poking through holes to make it look like they've grown there. For inspiration take a look at aquascaping books and web sites. Decide what you like and try to work out why you like it. Was it the colour of the plants, the contrast in textures, the lush overgrown look? Then have a go at reproducing it in your own tank. Most of all, have fun! |

That doesnt sound quite right though, I've always known 29's to be much taller than they are long? Which is why Falstafs suggestion of using tall plants would be so good. ^_^ [hr width='40%'] And though it’s red blood bleeding from her now. It's more like cold blue ice in her heart. She feels like kicking out all the windows. And setting fire to this life." |
