Im starting to get tired of my current aquascape in my 125g and I want something different. I have 17 8"-12"x3"x5" blocks.
This what they look like. http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/greenmonkey51/detail?.dir=1ba0&.dnm=12bf.jpg&.src=ph
I can stack them 2 high like in the picture. or 3 high like a tower. If I get enough good ideas I may run a poll and let you guys decide. Also the tank house malawi haps if you didn't know.

The picture looks nice, but you can also turn them a bit, so it doesn't look like a wall. You can turn some sideways & turn some 90 degreece, so the fish can hide aswell.

I personally think you will find it very difficult to work with the same shape. They dont appear to have any texture and have that bland look.

It would take a lot of plants mixed in with them to give it an interesting look.

Oh I like them

I'd go and move them around till I was happy, and in some places go 3 high, others only two...some sideways, some tall, and I'd leave "window" pockets for them to swim through...

I like them too ! I hope they keep that clean gray look to them.
What'd I'd work towards is to have them built up into a wall, include Heidis window even....but have one side tumbled down with the plants growing into the tumbled down bit....I suppose that all depends on how many you can get of course .

I like those. Where did you ever find them? Are they natural rock or manmade something?

I would put them from side to side and make a extra level behind them. You wouldn't have to go the entire length of the tank, you could go from one front corner of the tank and angle them to the back of the tank, maybe midways or a little more.

You could fill up the area behind them with your same substrate and it would be like a natural drop off from there to the bottom of the tank.

I dont think you have enough to do a very nice design, the most you can do is probably grow plants around a structure, as suggested above, or create a cave for your fish.

Ya, I would have more but they weigh about 15lbs a peice. Its not that bad thought right now. When the red emp gets a little pissy and starts chasing the others can just round a tower or duck into one of the caves.

I really like the blocks, I think you could make a nice planted scape if you went with a kind of submerged garden wall idea. I would attach mosses to the top of the "wall" to soften the blocks a bit, and maybe see if you could get some moss to grow from between the cracks in the wall.

If I were doing this scape I would use the top left of the wall as a focal point, get some large crypts or whatever in different colours and textures to look a bit like "bushes," plant the whole forground with some glosso in front and dwarf hairgrass around the base of the wall. Then I would use stem plants in the background and some java fern attached to one side of the wall. Add in some more stuff as accents. Anyway my paint skills are bad but I made a mockup of my idea.

I didn't add anything in the mockup but I would add some smaller stones around the base of the wall too.
