FRANK Moderator Posts: 5108 Kudos: 5263 Votes: 1690 Registered: 28-Dec-2002 | Hi, In doing some reading, you will want to provide the fish a couple of caves that it can feel secure in and large enough so that it can grow and still use them. Because they are mainly nocturnal, I would use lighting in the 2 to 3 watts per gallon to grow pretty near any plants that you want that come from South America. You can provide some driftwood as well. It looks like you can house about 3 in a tank that size, and remember that anything else in that tank would be considered food. To enjoy them, I would have the lights on timers. I would run the regular lights for 10 hours and then switch over to "Moonlights" for another 6 hours, and then complete darkness for the remainder of the 24 hour cycle. That would give the plants a normal photo period, and you, time in the evening, to enjoy the fish as they came out hunting. If you do want plants stick with ones that require low light. Java fern instantly comes to mind. There are a few different varieties and they can be attatched to the driftwood and rocks and just be allowed to take over. With all the caves you might want to consider some of the mid sized loaches. Not sure I'd suggest clowns for that small of a tank. The caves would (hopefully) provide enough protection from them being invited to dinner.... ^_^ |
