Do you have any driftwood or rocks in that tank. Have a look in [link=My Profile] http://www.fishprofiles.com/forums/member.aspx?id=1935[/link] for my tank info Look here for my Betta 11Gal Desktop & Placidity 5ft Community Tank Photos Keith Near enough is not good enough, therefore good enough is not near enough, and only your best will do. For the most part you have a diagonal design to the tank with the aquascape flowing from the upper left down to the lower right. However your tall plants (look like vals ) that are growing to the surface are flowing over and down the middle of the right which ruins the 'scaped flow of the tank. I'd suggest either filling in the back right to the surface or trimming the plants so they dont get pushed down into the plants that are growing up. ^_^ |

If you are able to, by placing a darker color background, i.e. black or a dark blue it would help to accentuate the plants more. Otherwise, I agree with what Babel had to say on placement of the plants you currently have. Jim |

I am not too picky about the way people aquascape their tanks exept for plastic ornaments and fake plants. Does your light extend across the whole tank? If so, trim those vals or replace them with stem plants that wont block out all that light. Of course, this is my opinion, do what you feel looks the best . |

keithgh *Ultimate Fish Guru* Posts: 6371 Kudos: 6918 Votes: 1542 Registered: 26-Apr-2003 | The back of the tank certainly requires painting I suggest black it is best applied with a paint roller, this gives a better coverage. I find it difficult to follow the flow of your Aquscaping it seems very busy at one end and empty at the other. It requires some height possibly with drift wood and something to link the whole design together. Aqua Newbie n MS Hobbyist Posts: 102 Votes: 1 Registered: 01-Jan-2006 | Regarding painting the back of the tank for a background... What type of paint do you use? Some sort of latex, I assume? |

Paint is harder to remove or change when you want to. ^_^ |

OldTimer Mega Fish USAF Retired Posts: 1181 Kudos: 1294 Votes: 809 Registered: 08-Feb-2005 | You could, but it's best if it's water resistant so as not to become damaged with any accidental spills. You can get backing from a LFS or you can just paint it. Jim |
