Found some great rocks | |
RNJ_Punk Big Fish Cory Fanatic Posts: 395 Kudos: 114 Votes: 137 Registered: 12-Nov-2006 | I found some awsome rocks at a river when I went trout fishing this weekend. They are the kind that are flattish/round, you know like river rocks. I have been wanting rocks like this for my tank, was gonna buy some but I figured this will save me some money. Any ideas to help make then tank safe? As far as cleaning/ and what not goes. I can post pics tomorrow if you would like. |

I personally prefer to boil the rocks for a bit to kill off anything that might be in any cracks, some say that's a bit of overkill but I like to be sure. Just don't use a new or nonstick pan. Usually I use an old plastic container in the microwave. Otherwise rocks are pretty ease. Good job on finding fish stuff free . ^_^ |

Toss them in a 5g bucket and add about a half gallon of bleach then fill with water to at least halfway or until the rocks are covered. Leave overnight and rinse well the next day. Then I usually leave them to soak for a few hours in a bucket of tapwater with a generous dose of dechlorinator but I know most people just settle for the rinsing well. Kills all the odd critters that might hitchhike in and loosens any dirt so it's easy to rinse off. |

Have a look in [link=My Profile] http://www.fishprofiles.com/forums/member.aspx?id=1935[/link] for my tank info Look here for my Betta 11Gal Desktop & Placidity 5ft Community Tank Photos Keith Near enough is not good enough, therefore good enough is not near enough, and only your best will do.
