Grape Wood | |
mrwizerd Big Fish Posts: 360 Kudos: 197 Votes: 75 Registered: 24-Oct-2005 | I went into look at the driftwood at one of my LFS and they sell really tiny pieces of the good stuff for Aquariums but its expensive and to small for a good effect but I can get grape that looks really cool and is sandblasted kiln dried and 100% free of parasites. I am not sure if this is ok to use in an aquarium I have been told that it gets slime on it and will buffer the ph to 6.5. I think the slime wouldnt be an issue if I cover it in moss, but lowering the ph may be bad for a few of my fish but I think that can be fixed. What do you guys think? |

I would not suggest using it in the tank, grapevine degrades rapidly. As for the "slime". Most all driftwood, especially those that wild caught will grow a bit of fungus on them when they've first been placed in the tank. It does go away on it's own and is harmless to fish. ^_^ |
