...dim the light in my aquarium?? right now when i turn the light on its like a nuclear explosion happening in my tank. Is there any way i can make it a little darker without having to buy a new light and/or bulb.

Thanks.

You can do some floating plants. They will make the sudden flood of light less harsh.

I'll do graffiti,

My tank isnt planted though. I'd much rather like a darkish sort of tank...

Put a sheet of glad-bake under the light fitting. Be sure its SILICONE paper, not WAX paper, as that can get messy.

You can try this. This is done with Glass Houses.

It will depend on your glass. Get a seperate sheet of glass and paint it with a very thin white 6-1 water based paint this will stop the glare.

Be carefull it must not be placed directly over the tank there must be another glass top and this is placed on top of it.
Another tip I recently came across was to have the room not in total darkness when the lights come on.

Near enough is not good enough, therefore good enough is not near enough, and only your best will do.

Floating Plants will dim you light, but you must take care of them, or else they'll multiply in weeks.

Always light the room lights before turning on the tank.
