Just wondering how long a freshwater sand 30 gallon tank takes to settle and look clear? I all ready have a texas chiclid and a convict in there.

Hi,
The answer to that question depends upon how well you
washed the sand, they type of filtration and how well
it works, and how active the fish are as they define
which parts of the tank are theirs digging up the sand
as they argue.

It could take days or weeks.

IME if it takes a long time to settle, every time you clean or do anything else that disturbs it it'll get cloudy and stay that way for a while.

Quikrete commercial sand works great if you decide to pull out what you've got in there now.

Getting the old sand out is pretty easy with the hose off your gravel vac. Take the big tube off and siphon it out.
