Do you have any plans to attach anything to the drift wood such as java fern or java moss? I think that would help to fill up the middle of the tank more. Anyways a very good looking tank. Jim |

I cannot get Java moss here, at least I have never seen it available. However, I do have a cool type of moss growing on the log now - Marimo! Heh. littlemousling Conchiform Posts: 5230 Registered: 23-Aug-2003 | Looks nice. I'd clear all of the floating material - that always makes a tank look terribly messy. Any plans for a nice thick foreground? The empty gravel in the front makes the tank appear less planted than it is, and you could have a nice bunch of dwarf sag or something down there. And I'd fill in with some more crypts in that left area. -Molly Visit shelldwellers.com! |

Those Balas - the 2 big ones are about 8-9 inches each, the smaller one is 6 or so. They went to the LFS yesterday for store credit, I got $30 store credit (valid for livestock as well) for the 3 of em. LM- I keep clearing away the floating stuff every few days, and then someone (not sure who) keeps biting off peices and floating them, I suspect the Dwarf Gourami males of this. I cannot get Sag here, that one crypt is actually 6 plants I think, do you think I could seperate them, would that look good? Yes, on the far right side I am growing Lilaeopsis sp. Hopefully if it does well, I should be able to cover the rest of the foreground with it. If it doesnt work out, I may try some riccia, some moss of some type, or maybe some microsword, or ? (suggestions welcome). Come Play Yahtzee With Me! http://games.atari.com Http://www.myleague.com/yahtgames |

I especially love the big curving driftwood with the anubias (it looks like) growing in the shade. I do agree about the floating plants though. Lovely discus in there as well! If you like, you could add some cryptocorene balansae to the back left of your aquarium and hygrophila difformis to right back. The balansae has a long, narrow leaf that will extend to the top of the tank. I describe it as a hammered, bronze green leaf. The difformis will grow to the surface and provide a bright green bush on the right. In fact, every day that goes by since the Balas left, the Discus grow more and more friendly and are now hanging out in the front of the tank rather than the back. I have tried Hygro Difformis in my tank before, but for some reason, the plant keeps getting burned by the light. I wonder if the plants I have, have just gotten used to the low light in my 25g tank. I might try a peice though again and see how it does. I will look for that Crypt you mentioned Bob...if I cannot find it (crypts are hard to find here), is there another plant that would look similar and grow similar to that? Also, do You think I could add 3-4 Anubias Coffeefolia to the tank? Come Play Yahtzee With Me! http://games.atari.com Http://www.myleague.com/yahtgames |

iltat Mega Fish Posts: 1076 Kudos: 1216 Votes: 0 Registered: 14-Oct-2002 | Well, I know nothing whatsoever of plants, so I can't recommend a specific plant, but how about something behind the driftwood on the left? Something thick and a light green so that wood stands out in front of it? Also, how about a large rock of some type (river rock preferrably) in that hole on the right? Again, light-colored so that it stands out but still looks natural. Possibly even a pile of rocks as if that's the feed from another stream into your snapshot of a larger stream? Because I have so many bottom feeders, I want to do some slate terrace levels, to both provide caves, and room for my corys, loaches, catfish, plecos, and rams. I would like a couple of those golfball sized round rocks though - I will check out the aggragate place this week sometime and see what they have. I am going to do some cleaning and plant trimming tonight, and will post some new pics after I do. Come Play Yahtzee With Me! http://games.atari.com Http://www.myleague.com/yahtgames |
