In a way that's right, but you can still get algae with co2 . Basically what co2 does is allow the plants to use more of the energy that you're giving them providing so much light. Without the co2 there's a limited amout of the energy the plants can use, and the extra gets taken advantage of by the next lowest life form which is algae. When you add the co2 you're giving the plants a boost (like a power bar for humans ) so that they can use as much of the energy as possible. Nice tank . ^_^
When angels cry blood, on flowers of evil in bloom and a plea for mercy, where Love is a gun separating me from you" |

Forgot to mention, the lights are 2 spiral flourescent bulbs at 23 watts a peice Anything will grow in there! I need the co2 cuz I want to do lilaeopsis again, but last time the algae took it over and killed it. I have heard c02 prevents algae, and im willing to try anything. So yesterday I did it, tore it all down, junked the gravel, cleaned everything to get rid of the snail eggs and snails totally. That was along long gross job. But finally after 3 hours I got it done, and I am very impressed at that new look. Fish seem to be very happy with it! So without further adieu heres some before and after pics. As you can see the white gravel was too bright and rough: The snails were so horrible they totally made the tank filthy all the time: Now, heres it today: Come Play Yahtzee With Me! http://games.atari.com Http://www.myleague.com/yahtgames |

I just finished my Betta tank and I was extremly carefull in cleaning all the plants and snails still turned up they came via the new gravel. If you want to remove them completly and forever add a small CL for a while, that is what I have done and I have not seen a snail since and it has only been a week since I put him in the tank.
