I'm having another go at putting up this poll to ask people's opinion about which way to position my new driftwood.

Here is the 1st choice. the other pictures will follow.

I'm interested to hear your views on what you would do.

Now why did all those voting buttons go out of order. Before I hit "post reply" there were in order (1-5), but they are all messed up again.

Anyway, here is choice 2

I rather like choice four, imagine that all covered in moss, it would look cool.

I am thinking that dwarf hair grass would look great in front of it. It would appear as if the wood was resting tranquily? on the bottom. IT is a great piece of wood and I wouldnt want anything taking away from is "AWW".

Hmmm the buttons are our of order, odd that.

Voted For: 4, by mistake it was supposed to be 3
I like diagonals.
They're dramatic.

Oh, Alright, guess I need to give more than that right?

Well my mistaken vote for #4 is a second choice, although maybe it's just because that one brings out the color of the wood.

While you have four choices of diagonals, I believe to the "western" eye the 3rd choice looks the most "natural" due to the direction that we are used to reading things. Books are read left to right, most people do the same thing with art ect.

Additionally in that position (I hope you remember how to get it back like that ) more of the branches seem to have an upward flow *knocks over bottles with large sweeping motion of hands* that will bring life to the tank. I think this piece should be placed so the left side of the base is 1/3 the lenght of the tank or less from the left side. Placing it dead center would trap too much of the space on the right, while placing it against the far left wall of the tank is likely to look unnatural. Possibly lay ontop a few pieces of slate, or other tank safe rocks to the underside to help push it just a little more to the upper right corner of the tank, depending of course on how tall the tank is itself!

Perfectly Lovely piece of DW I'm sure however you decide to scape it it'll look just amazing.

Vote For Three!

Not trying to sway the vote or anything

I like 4. I like the way that the lower branch archs upwards and then back down to the gravel.

Once the driftwood is covered with anubias, moss or whatever it will create a cave like effect at the point.

I like choice 1 the best. I am in fact lookin for a peice of driftwood just like this for the tall branchy effect. I think small fish like my neons would look excellent darting around between the branches.
Tall val like americana would look great with it.

Hi to all & thanks or your opinions so far. I still have more time to decide (it's soaking & I'm waiting on a plant order).
Hmmm the buttons are our of order, odd that.
I don't know what happened there. Before I hit "Post Reply" it was in nice numerical order. (I double checked that - as I had the same problem the night before - same thing happened - I asked mods to delete that one [thanks Frank] ).

After I hit Post Reply, everything was out of order once again.

I don't know why. Is there a secret tip in doing this properly.

Anyway, thanks again for the responses & comments so far.

Cheers

Thanks again for the opinions, which helped heaps. Thought I'd share the view used - which ended up not being one of those posted here for voting. But it was picked due to the comments you guys made.

View 1 ended up being too tall for the tank, so that one had to be crossed off the list, but I agree that neons would have looked cool darting amongst it all in the upper reaches.

But these are the coments that brought about the final choice
to the "western" eye the 3rd choice looks the most "natural" due to the direction that we are used to reading things
branches seem to have an upward flow that will bring life to the tank.
I like the way that the lower branch archs up wards and then back down to the gravel. Once the driftwood is covered with anubias, moss or whatever it will create a cave like effect at the point.

The 3rd choice didn't give much in the way of caves, so I experimented wit new views & tried to find one that reads from left to right, sweeps up wards & created natural caves at the base.

So here it is. Thanks heaps for input.
