I want to do a 3d background but didn't want to use concrete. what brand and type of fiber glass resin would work for a background

I believe fiberglass isnt the best material to do anything with fish. It suppositly can chip, and if a fish inhales the fiberglass particles, it can shred the gills and kill the fish almost instantly.

Not sure if this is true, as I've never tried it.

Did you see the bonke's thread? He created an amazing background out of styrafoam.

Hi,
I would not use concrete either, as it cures it
will release chemicals that will seriously affect
your tanks water.

There was a series of articles on "caves," other
backgrounds and their construction. Mostly it used
styrofoam and went into detail on the DIY techniques.
Open up your "messages of the the x number of days"
box and skim the Aquascaping, and Technical parts
of this forum to find them.

Several were quite good, highly detailed, and the
results outstanding.

That's bonkes thread, which is very helpful and basically guides you through the whole way. Of course you can tweak it by making the background look different and using different colors.
