The piece of DW I have in my 55g is still not waterlogged and must be held down by its piece of slate and another slate rock. I am tired of fighting with it because when I clean I sometimes bump it and it floats up. This drives me insane because I then have to reposition it which stirs up the gravel and scares my fishies.
I have been looking online and the only place I have seen good, real DW is ebay. I don't know what will sink good though. Most don't have a name for it...just driftwood. I know Malaysian DW sinks because I have a small piece in my 10g. I found a good looking piece (I think) on ebay...but it is just regular. Here is the link: link. I have no idea what is good and if I should trust that the DW is free of parasites and stuff like that. Should I order this or any piece from ebay or should I try to find a piece locally...from a LFS?
What other kinds will sink readily besides Malaysian? I am tired of fighting with the piece I have. :%)

Thanks...I'll check them out.

What kind did you order? I like the look of the Swahala DW but it doesn't mention anything on either website about how it sinks.

Does anyone know anything about the Swahala DW? Does it sink pretty good?
If it was your tank would you prefer the Swahala or the Malaysian?:%)

I have Mopani driftwood, lucked out there sunk on day one. Everything else is locally collected and worked with.

Goodluck

I had to soak mine (in a spare trash can, not my fish tank) for two weeks before it mostly sunk on its own... And even then, I tied it down using fishing line tied to suction cups stuck on the bottom of the tank. It worked very well and was completely invisible.

Hoping that there must be a word for everything I mean...

Wow...I never thought of that. Very good idea. I am still going to get another piece, just because I don't like the one I have. I want a branchy piece. I may be able to use the piece I have in a 48g tank I will hopefully be getting soon. I will definitely keep that suction cup trick in mind though, in case I get another non-sinker.

I also find that Mopani Wood is the easiest to sink & even if it's really dry, it will sink in 2/3 days.
