By the way, You've got a very beautiful tank. http://uk.pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/s8xi5heh/my_photos http://www.geocities.com/s8xi5heh/classic_blue.html http://groups.yahoo.com/group/buzaqq/ Last edited by jasonpisani at 14-Jun-2005 08:02 http://www.flickr.com/photos/corydoras/ Member of the Malta Aquarist Society - 1970. http://www.maltaaquarist.com |

I would add some tall backing plants (all same species) to fill in the gaps use a different texture there. As well as a few of the same plant front LH end. There are many anubias, nanna could be the better one to use as the larger varieties are extemly slow growers and could look out of place any way. I personally dont think you need any more colours in the tank. If the back is not painted I suggest painting it black. The tank certainly has good posibilities just let it develop slowly. greenfootball Fish Addict Posts: 613 Kudos: 360 Votes: 0 Registered: 23-Jul-2001 | yeah the back is not painted, but it has a black background, its hard to move my tank, so i dont see it possible to paint it anytime soon. so... add more vals to cover the entire back side, and fill the space between the middle crypt and the sword with .. more crypt?? is that what you mean?? |

Alex Fish Addict 510 Posts: 721 Registered: 03-Oct-2004 | why not get rid of that sword and get a red ruban sword and place it just a little to the right of the old sword then pack the area between the hair grass and the glosso with cryptatone parva (yes i know its my answer to everything but its an awsome plant!!!) I second the notion of getting more vals Edit:I would get rid of that central crypt Edit 2: i would also move the algae balls under the drift wood Edit 3: I would get more hornwort aswell Alex Last edited by Alex at 15-Jun-2005 04:13[/font] Last edited by Alex at 15-Jun-2005 04:15 Last edited by Alex at 15-Jun-2005 04:16 |

greenfootball Fish Addict Posts: 613 Kudos: 360 Votes: 0 Registered: 23-Jul-2001 | wow thanks... "what is this?" those are 2 onion plant bulbs. and the brown stuff in the front near the moss balls are some apon bulbs, just trying to discover the mystery apons...... did you write NOT vals??? if not vals, what options do i have?? i currently have 4 very small corkscrew vals growing too, but they are too small you cant really see them. the big ones are jungle vals. the hornwort on the driftwood i actually just threw it away, but near the ba so you dont think anything should go between the middle crypt and the sword (besides the backing plant)?? |

greenfootball Fish Addict Posts: 613 Kudos: 360 Votes: 0 Registered: 23-Jul-2001 | yeah thats a good advice to get rid of the amazon sword and get a colored sword plant. i was thinking about those marbled swords, not sure if thats what you mentioned... i just threw away the hornwort, i cannot keep up with its growth, and it always end up floating after i stick them in the holes in my drift wood... would moss balls be ok without lights if i stick them under the wood??? ps. anybody in vegas area interested in free amazon sword? |

Without light they get brown. http://uk.pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/s8xi5heh/my_photos http://www.geocities.com/s8xi5heh/classic_blue.html http://groups.yahoo.com/group/buzaqq/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/corydoras/ Member of the Malta Aquarist Society - 1970. http://www.maltaaquarist.com |

bensaf Fish Master Posts: 1978 Kudos: 1315 Registered: 08-Apr-2004 | In answer to the other thread ... I agree with illustrae a Tiger Lotus would swamp the tank and certainly ruin the Glosso patch. How about a narrow leaved sword something like a Narrow Leaf Rubin will give a splash of color. Something with small or fine leaves behind the driftwood in a thick group. Rotala Indica or rotundifolia would be good. Keep it lower then the Vals so you still have the effect of the Vals poking out. Also agree, I'm not much of a fan of Marimo Balls either, I think they're the planted equivilant of a sunken treasure chest, just my personal opinion though I'd prefer something like Anubias Nana at the ba A bit rock in front of the narrow leafed sword (if you get one) but behind the crypt would work too. You've got a great start.I wouldn't change too much. Once that Glosso and Hairgrass fill in there will be a quantam leap in how the tanks look. The only thing I see is that there needs to be something between the Vals and the foreground so soften the change of levels. I would keep all the stem plants behind the driftwood. The left hand side kept open like it is now with the glosso filling in.Something like a narrow leaf sword in that corner area with a rock and maybe some Anubias in front of the sword and then the glosso foreground in front of that again.
