I think that testing would be a good idea, just in case.

Get a bucket of water and test the parameters especialy pH and leave the rock in there for a week. If nothing changes it shoud be fine

Hi,
In looking at the pictures, it is a nice "cobble" size
rock that is well rounded by past exposure to water and
tumbling down stream. However as to exactly what it is
is nearly impossible to say due to the picture quality.
The picture of the rock would have to be "close up, and
personal" to show any grain structure and its natural
color.

The best advice I could offer would be to clean it
throughly. Then, with a knife, scrape the surface to
remove the weathering rind and then drip a couple of
drops of weak acid on the freshly exposed surface.
If the rock fizzes or bubbles, then it is a carbonate
and will alter the water chemistries. If it does not
react, then it is "safe" for use in the aquarium.

I say "safe" as most folks do not want there pH, GH, and
KH changed by any ornaments that they might add. If,
however, you are keeping fish that enjoy hard water or
pHs up near (or in) the 8s then you don't need to worry
much about rocks and can just clean them and toss them
into the tank.

For acid, the most common acid found in nearly every home
is vinegar. Geologists use a diluted solution of HCl
(Hydrochloric Acid). If you still have a lead acid
battery in the car, then a drop or two from that would
work as well. If you are a minor, get your parents to
mess with the latter two acids.

First do the tests mentioned above & then place it in your tank.
