But in all this time I've never been able to aquascape it to any degree that satisfies me. As far as fish there are two keyholes, a BN, yoyo loaches, some platies, and gold barbs. The substrate is 75% gravel, 25% Flourite; lighting is low. I originally started with fake plants, castles & such...had terra cotta pots for a while, then fake rocks. Currently it has a very large fake wood 'thing'...I've been kind of cycling thru all my old stuff trying to find something that works. Plants are another story as well. The loaches eat pretty much anything I try. I really, really don't want to go with fake. I recently trimmed a bunch of anacharis from another tank but the majority of the leaves are now missing ]:| At least the floating hornwort doesn't get bothered. The tank used to be on a half wall; once I figure out what to do with it I'll add a background. So here it is, without spending a fortune what can I do with it? Thanks Theresa_M attached this image: ~~~~~~~~~~~~ There is water at the bottom of the ocean |

Under and around the DW place several groups of smallish flat stones. At the LH end and back corner use at least two varieties tallish plants in thick clumps. At the other end may be some mass planting of one variety of Crypt. Finally paint the back black Keith Near enough is not good enough, therefore good enough is not near enough, and only your best will do. I VOTE DO YOU if not WHY NOT? VOTE NOW VOTE NOW |

That's a tank screaming for Anubias, Ferns and Bolbitis if ever I saw one ! Actually I'd turn the wood the other way up, with the branchy bits pointing up and out (great piece of BTW). Lot's of Anubias and ferns , different varieties, Bolbitis would really fill it out (behaves like fern, tie to wood, but very leafy kinda like a dark wisteria).A few rocks. A few crypts at front and sides. Easy zero maintenance low light tank. Remember that age and treachery will always triumph over youth and ability. |

Alex Fish Addict 510 Posts: 721 Registered: 03-Oct-2004 | If its fake dw it would look bad upside down as it has flat edges and branches of around the same length. Id plant it with a background of giant vallis a midground of Java fern windeolv and dwarf swords a foreground of crypts and maybe the odd bit of anudibias nana petite lets see your loaches uproot these plants Alex |
