Nice tank, but I dont think I would have tiger barbs with the discus.... they tend to be VERY nippy sometimes.

A very nice selection of plants you have there a good variety of shape and colour of the plants.

thanks guys. they arent tiger barbs, they are the more peaceful version - pentazona barbs.

the substrate is sand in the middle with pebbles round to create a beach areas which the cories love. around that is a blue/green gravel. there is a pebble banked up area around base of filter to give a cave under filter.

the plants are growing like heck lol. but thats hembos department

Wendy,

That is a beautiful tank. It looks very healthy.

Can you tell me (us) a little more about your fertilization routine, if you supply CO2, and what lighting system you have?

I, for some reason, thought that plants wouldn’t do that well in sand, but it appears as yours are just great. How long do you have them already?

Is your profile still up to date (I think I see 3 discus)? Also, how long is your fish community together already?

Thanks a bunch for sharing these pics with us,

Ingo

thanks.
my profile is now up to date (hadnt added the 3rd discus).

the lighting in our tank is a daylight tube at back and beauty tube at front. we think works out at 2 1/2 watts a gallon. We used to use CO2, but dont now as we found it affected the balance of things in the tank. We add liquid plant food occasionally other than that they grow well without. We have to trim them back every week.
The plants are mainly planted in the gravel, with a few smaller ones in the sanded area.

we set the tank up 5 months ago and have been adding fish since. the discus being the last ones in.
