Hi All,

My 4 year old female albino cory was on her own, species wise, until a few weeks ago, when I bought 3 bronze hi-fins to go in the same tank.

Within a week of the young hi-fins going in the tank, the albino and the largest hi-fin started to dance around and she laid a total of about 150 eggs.

Some of these I did manage to move, but all succumbed to fungus, although most were fertile .

This morning I noticed more spawning behavior, and was amazed when I came home to find about 250 munched on eggs on the tank front.

I have a tank that I had the eggs in, and shall be moving the albino female and the male she prefers into that in the next couple of weeks.

My questions are, should I remove the adults after they have spawned? What food should I give the fry? I have heard that rotifers are good, if so should I use marine or freshwater rotifers?

Also does any one have any idea what colour babies I would get? Also what finnage, as the albino is normal finned?

Looking forward to reading your replies, and getting some babies!

Yes, you should probably remove the adults after they have spawned as they usually have no qualms in eating their own eggs. An airstone placed near the eggs to aid in water movement and the addition of an anti-fungal agent should also be made to help prevent the fungus from getting started. Any eggs that are infertile should be removed as soon as possible to also help prevent the fungus from starting.

As far as what your colors will be, I wouldn't know, sorry but no knowledge in this area.

Jim

You can feed the fry, microworms & baby Brine shrimp, for the first 10 days & then feed them some pieces of sinking pellets. I usually feed them, pieces of Spirulina tablets & granulated foods.

When my cories spawned i scrapped the eggs carefully from the glass and put them in a breeder net in the tank with an airstone underneath it for water movement to help prevent fungus growth.. then its just a matter of waiting.. they are very tiny when they hatch... after that i fed mine with fry liquid food... then moved to baby brine shrimp

As for the appearance, im not sure.. i guess it might be a suprise!

The off-spring will be bronze-colored with normal fins, as these (I believe) are the dominant traits. Cory fry are not picky, and will eat pretty much anything small enough (powdered flake food is a good staple).
