Melafix is highly concentrated and can become lethal in high levels. I have only lost 2 fish to melafix, before a fish biologist told me that melafix can become lethal in high levels. On the bottle it says to dose daily for how many days. Dont do that. For melafix, dose only for 4 days, then do a 30% water change before the next dose. This will prevent the melafix from becoming lethal. Also, its not always necessary to use a full dose, for fish with only mild illness or wounds, a half dosage for 4 days, water change, then repeat, usually is sufficient. Hope this helps! I use the 1ml dropper I received with my Seachem products these can also be bought over the counter at some LFS or your local Chemist. Have a look in [link=My Profile] http://www.fishprofiles.com/forums/member.aspx?id=1935[/link] for my tank info Look here for my Betta 11Gal Desktop & Placidity 5ft Community Tank Photos Keith Near enough is not good enough, therefore good enough is not near enough, and only your best will do. And, what's more, I'd used it to treat a particularly insidious case of tail rot that was resistant to my usual first line medication choice (Myxazin). So the Pandas had been receiving Myxazin doses for the previous 7 days prior to the Melafix. And, they're still frolicking about and still spawning like mad, so I'd say that the regular dosage of Melafix is safe to use with Pandas. |

I use a 10cc pediatric dosing syringe like you would find at a pharmacy. They give them out for people who have to be a bit more forceful with the medications for little kids. I also have a rubber stopper with a syringe hole in it for drawing the medicine. As Calilasseia said, I too use the full dose as stated on the bottle and have even continued for a few days afterward, after a 25% water change. I did not have any problems with fish overdosing. I have lost fish though while using the product but I am convinced it was due to late treatment and old age; not the medication.(Note: this was not with Corys though). "Talk is cheap.
