Will an albino male BN breed with a normal (dark coloured) female BN?.

Thanks in advance.

I don't have experience with the BN in particular but the albino color pattern is just a variety of the same fish. Bronze and Paleatus cories both come in regular and albino and the colors can be bred together. The solid color is dominant though, your babies should be dark.

Proving both fish are healthy and no medical problems there should be no reason at all.

Put them together and let nature take its course.

Have a look in [link=My Profile] http://www.fishprofiles.com/forums/member.aspx?id=1935[/link] for my tank info

Hi
If you’re talking about bristlenose fish (BN) then I’ve got a couple, I purchased last month from a shop in Victoria,
They are from an albino male and a normal dark female.
They are coloured a marble colour, just like the Cadbury Marble chocolate,
My male is now about 3cm long and has turned to a chocolate colour with a white dorsal fin and tail and with white bristles ,,
The aquarium shop had about 100+ of them forsale .
Hope this helps
Craig

I bought 3 normal bn's from a petshop in Qld and they were so small I had to put them in the guppy tank. They are the same size as the guppies!

That's the same size i bought mine & so it's very difficult to sex them. When i bought a couple of Albino BN's, i finished up with 4 males. Now i can't find an Albino BN female, so i taught i'll try breeding him with a normal female BN.

They'll be able to breed successfully, so long as they are the same species.
Cheers,
Alexander

So long i haven't seen anything yet, but i would like to know if a cooler water temperature would trigger the BN's to breed?.

The current ancistrus "domesticus" is probably derived from one or several northern SA piedmont species, thus, they prefer it around the 76-80 mark with a bit of current. As long as they're feeding well, you shouldn't have a problem; just wait and things will happen. It would be preferable if you had a tight fitting cave as well.

Since they, along with most other limnivores of their vein have metabolisms that are P-limited, it has been shown that infrequent feedings of non fatty heavy protein foods helps bring females into breeding condition (ripe) faster. Don't overdo it, though.

Thanks alot for your reply Cup..........

I will leave them without a heater & see how things goes. The female look quite fat, but i rarely see her. While the male comes out for food, daily.
