I want this tank for my clown loaches and angelfish. I want to put in a sand-like substrate. My concern is, would the clown loaches have a problem with that since they are bottom feeders? I may also want to put some pandas or plecos in there. Also, how do you do a gravel vac on sand substrate? In other words, if you don't vac it, how do you get it clean? Thanks and have a great day ![]() |

I do have a fair amount of plants though? GFG Never be bullied into silence. Never allow yourself to be made a victim. Accept no one's definition of your life; define yourself. Harvey S. Firestone |

Not knowing how big your Clowns are I can see problems if they are 5+ins. Three of mine are over that and dig up my Substrate of mixed sized small river pepples. If sand was in my tank it would continually have sand flying around and finally finish up in my canister filter and then could do some dammage to the impeller on the way. WHne something makes my large (almost 9" clown) mad, and he flys back into his spot, he digs the gravel up, and a wole bunch of crap in the gravel flys up. SOmetimes when he gets scared, when he swims away, he shoots gravel at the glass... i can only imagin how much sand he could get to fly around the tank. |
