I've been noticing just lately with one of my 5 clownies that it seems to be intent on bugging one of my kissing gouramis. As the gourami goes to have a peck around the bottom this clowny sort of sticks to the side of the gourami and stays there while the gourami frantically swims around trying to shake him off The clowny hangs on? for a few seconds and then lets go but this morning I was sure I seen a scale float down from the gourami
The gouramis are about 20-25cms and the clowns are all around 10 cms.
Is this behaviour typical of a CL or do I just have a renegade?

I think the clown loach is doing a bit of terrority protection or trying to see who is boss of the tank.

What type of Gourami is it?

My large Clown chases every thing at feeding time but does not worry the same fish at any other time.

Have a look in [link=My Profile]http://

I think that it's territory problems & not real fighting. Wait a bit more & keep an eye on them & if you see real fighting, just remove the Gourami.

my clown sometimes follows my big pleco around, but that's cause the pleco will throw large amounts of food around when he's eating and the clown gobbles it up as it flies through the water.

My clowns and all other loaches do it to my Angel. Once in a while, she turns around and nips them right back, but mostly, they do this chasing thing, nip her fins and nip her near her mouth to get her to throw food out. I dont think it will completely pass with time, but with time, your gourami should learn how to deal with the clowns.

Possibly parasite control? Loaches are parasite eaters and may be trying to get them off other fish. Prolly not likely(territory as stated before), but keep a close eye on your fish.

It doesn't happen all the time, just when their paths cross I think?
I've never really seen the clowns have a go at anything else, it just seems to be the gouramis?
The main problem is that these gouramis are quite big and when they swim around frantically like that they can do damage to my other smaller fish in the tank And I've had them since they were little babies and I really don't want to get rid of them unless I really have to.
Thank you for the replies, I'll watch and wait to see what happens.
I got this photo the other day, I though it looked pretty cool how they were sleeping together...

Do those things "kiss" a lot?

My two female Pearl Gouramis will sometimes "kiss" non-stop for 15-20 minutes. They are both pretty much exactly the same size and strength, so they always have kissing contests to see who is (temporarily) dominant. It's pretty funny.

They do, when they get aggressive toward each other or they get attacked by the angels, they chase after them with their big lips pursed and ready And I've seen light scratches on the angel as a result.
