I have a 3 striped glass cat or "Pareutropius buffei" that has developed a big belly over the last week. There is some darkness visible through the skin just like a livebearer.I only have 2 and the other one is normal.Could it be pregnant???

Definately NOT pregnant.
Glass Catfish are egg scatterers.

they should be hard to breed, but they are not livebeares, so keep an eye out for eggs. but chances are that it ate alot.

Pregnant technically means with child-
however, i think people are arguing over
semantics here.
Yes, it is possible that your fish is pregnant,
or "full of eggs".
To me it means essentially the same thing,
as babies result from either.

eggs or live babies it is still pregnant to me.It has trimmed down alittle so I think it was eggs because it can't lose that much weight overnight.Anyway it still has a big belly, but I see no eggs in the tank.Between them and the other fish eggs wouldn't have much of a chance anyway.

these glassies are quite hard to breed, so if you're sure that it did have eggs, i would put them in another tank even if you had to buy a new one. it would be well worth it to breed an uncommon catfish imo

Have to agree, get them there own tank, and see what happens. Add plenty of plants, and other places where they can drop the eggs, that might also provide covering for the eggs and then later fry to hide it...you might just be really really lucky
