Has anyone here done this for their plecos.

An LFS I went to had it in with all his plecos and it apparently brings out their colour really well.

Do I have to cook this before I put it in the tank?

I think I have fed a big selection of as anyone but never pumpkin. I certainly would not cook it as it would be too mushy. If raw it could be too hard for them to eat. You could try pouring boiling water over the pumpkin and let it sit in the boiling water for a few minutes.
My profile has my feeding program.

Considering that most species will at least nibble on other conventional squashes, I'd assume pumpkin would be well accepted.

You can par boil or feed it to them raw. Actually, most loricariids would prefer it raw, for they enjoy grinding it up; par boiling is merely to entice other fish that don't have the dental work to scrape the pulp off the pumpkin.

Just thought you might like to know, I put this into my tank (Butternut Pumpkin) raw and My Gibbicep and Pleco love it. I've even seen my discus picking off little looser bits.

Why didn't I think to feed the butternut squash to the fish... I had a ton of it that noone was eating. Well I did find a place to use the mango. The royal actually came out in the daylight. My boyfriend was all excited. He keeps telling me to get a huge pleco instead of those little 2-3" ones.

Most squashes go down pretty well. Never had much luck with sweet potato , but I know a lot of people that do.
