Hey folks...as most know I got a 125 gallon tank about 2 months ago I guess...and I decided that I would have to get a few corydoras to go in said tank...The original plan if I remember correctly was to have 2-3 schools of 10-15 having a total number of 30 corries...well that was the plan And like all good plans, this one has gone straight down hill, and blown up in my face

I do believe that now I am fully stockedor am getting really close to being so

For those who care my addiction has to do with bottom feeders...especially different species of corries

This new LFS that is half way across town (30 miles or so) had at least 10 different types of corries They claim that they have at least 500 FW tanks in use, and I truly do believe it:%)I'd be willing to be that they have about 200 or so SW not to mention these cool little shelves set up with all sorts of I don't know what, I haven't gone to the dark side And they had this one really awesome tank with a great big something or another...the owner said it was his babybut was about 3 ft long 1 foot long, and it was in the tank with a morri (sp?) eel Oh and did I mention this one tank that had some sort of fish (not something I'm familiar with the cheepest in the tank was $299+) and it looked as though they were smiling thinking of how tasty your fingers would be, yes i could see the teeth, no I didn't put my fingers in the tank...

Anyways back on topic...

I've added to my 125...I now currently have
22 Neons
6 Harlequin Rasboras
2 (?) Emperor Tetras (these were not as hardy as everyone said and were struck down with ich when my A/C went out, and everything overheated)
4 Clown Loaches
2 BN
15 Hasbrosus Corries
3 Adult Albino Corries
4 Juvenile Albino Corries
8 metae Corries
and tonight I added
6 Agazzie Corries (sp?)
1 Arched Corry (we think he wasn't identified on the tankso he was really cheaphehehe)
Oh and let's not forget the man of the tank
Lucky the Beta

It is truly a bottom feeder frenzy in the tank...open hood and boom everyone is running to the right side of the tank in order to get to the algae wafers and shrimp tablets, and not to mention whatever else i throw in...

So does anyone have a cure for the bottom feeder addiction? Or shall I see about getting a specialty tank that is only a foot deep

Yes there is a certain cure for that dreaded and related diseases.

It is far worse than the problem and involves total withdrawl of all LFS or your LFS closes down and moves further away.

This is one disease many suffer from, you are not alone join a group called FP OH you are here all ready.

Regards Keith

i think bottom feeders are quite common to get addicted to but there's no cure that i know of
Anywho if you want some more peaceful catfish tankmates i rekon you should try something odd like a banjo cat]http://www.scotcat.com/factsheets/bunocephalus_coracoideus.htm[/link] or a few [link=hara haras
and for my interest, what filter/filters are are you using?

What is wrong with bottom feeders? As far as I know, they are the absolute most popular aquarium fish out there besides those lesser ones that don't inhabit the bottom. They are often very entertaining fish, as you have found out. Still maybe your next tank should have no bottom feeders, to balance out with this one. Then you could see which fish are more fun.

Just a thought.

I mentioned to my spouse some time ago that one of my dream tanks would be at least 5' long and not very deep...it would be devoted to loaches, cories, and plecs

One question.... who would want to cure an addiction to bottomfeeders?

I too have been bit, and this bug is one that I love. My poor little cories didn't last too long in my 10g, but that hasn't stopped me from adding cats to evry tank I have. There's just something about whiskers, barbels, and suckermouths that just gets me!!

And for all you dreamers out there, my dream tank would be just a shallow pond in the middle of my house (obviously not this house though...) that houses all sorts of Plecs and synos. I love the big guys!!

Ya'll are right, why would anyone want to cure this addiction? And I have tanks that don't have any corries in them...the 125 has quickly become my favorite shhhh!!! don't tell the other tanksthey are something entirely new to me...so without further ado...here is a picture of everyone schooling together last night...I now have a massive school of corries, that don't know that they are different from each other

Hahaha, I Hear you Theresa M, my girlfriend and I were considering a coffee table tank, 4'x 3' and only 10 inches high, and set up as a river bed, full of cories and loaches.

Instead we're going OS, so that'll have to wait
