It was "interesting" only in that it involved plecos... Anyways, a normally-knowlegeable assistant manager was talking to a customer, and I overheard him saying that the albino Ancistrus plecos we had grew to 16 inches. I of course tried to correct him, but he stayed the course. He also maintained that Ancistrus plecs were different than bristlenoses, which I know is also not true. I think he was confused, and talking about the albino sailfin plecs right next to our Ancistrus. I shut up rather than risk the wrath of someone senior to me, even though I knew I was right. Just a change of pace, I thought I'd share it with you all. |

One way is locate some documentary evidence and point it out to him privately. If he is any sort of decent person he should thank you for pointing out the facts. How is the job going any way? Keith ![]() ![]() Near enough is not good enough, therefore good enough is not near enough, and only your best will do. I VOTE DO YOU if not WHY NOT? ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

I really enjoy working in the fish department, and I'm learning a lot. On top of that, I get to see and work with a bunch of fish species that I've never seen before. We've got weird stuff like Florida gar, red-tailed catfish, elephant-nose knifefish, rhino plecos, you name it. I get along well with all of my co-workers, and most of them are knowledgeable about fish as well. I can't wait to learn more about saltwater too, since that will give me a head start for the future. ![]() ![]() Last edited by sirbooks at 29-Jan-2005 06:55 |

Pfft... I'm not afraid to argue with anyone. The store owner one time was helping a person with plecos, and he was saying that clown plecos are a Peckoltia species and that they are excellent algae eaters. These of course are both wrong, and I tried to correct him but he wouldn't believe me. I told him that he was probably thinking of the candystripe pleco, which is a Peckoltia and does eat algae. He kept disagreeing with me though, and it took me actually getting out one of our catfish books and showing him that clown plecos are actually wood-eating Panaques for him to believe me. ![]() ![]() I'm not your neighbor, you Bakersfield trash. |
