I have a pretty major outbreak of small brown snails in my 10g. it's wierd that this is the only tank I've gotten such a concentration of snails. But, they are there!

I had two Kuhli's they died. I had a skunk botia, he died. My guess is that the pH was to high for them (8.0).

Does anyone have a suggestion for a small, hardy loach suitable for a 10g, that loves to much snails?

There's currently a Betta, 2 Panda corys and 5 harlequin raspboars. The tank is heavily planted with anacharis, wisteria, banana plants, rosetta swords and SNAILS! lol

I am thinking of moving the Pandas to my 55g and boosting their numbers to about 6 or 8.

Scott I just replied to that in your other post. I would recommend a small CL then move it on to a bigger tank later.

Have a look in [link=My Profile] http://www.fishprofiles.com/forums/member.aspx?id=1935[/link] for my tank info

yoyo loach might do the trick, or move out the other fish and put in a dwarf puffer for a bit... that will go to town on the snails!!!! maybe then after wards it could be put in the 20g or something...

By using any form of snail killer it could easily cause more problems with the dead ones laying around.

Crushing them will not get rid of them completely it is their eggs as well and this is where the CL is a perfect choice.

A schooling, large growing fish that requires plenty of space is a better choice because you can always take it back to the LFS? Personally i'd rather buy a fish i can keep rather than having to rehome something knowing im not caring for it like i should be.

Clown loach is the best snail-eater for me but your tank is nowhere near big enough for a group of them. You say you have other tanks...... ????

I have a 55g with plenty of fishie space yet, and a full 20g.... So, maybe a clowny or two in a small state for a few weeks to cull the snails, then fill move them to the 55g and fill out their shoal to 6?

I can get Botia Sidthmunki but yes, they are $11.99 USD each... a wee bit pricey for me right now!

A 55 gallon isn't big enough for an adult Clown Loach, they need something like a 120+ gallon tank to live a full and healthy life.
