Are you keeping only Khuli's?. If yes, then i'll go with 6 or 8 of them.

I want to be safe, so i'll go with 6. I read the profile: how "soft" does the gravel have to be?

I've had mine for quite some time, the substrate is a mix of Flourite and regular gravel.

I agree that if you're just keeping kuhlis in the tank 6-8 would be fine.

I've got mine in with regular gravel, and they do fine...of course they think they have to dig halfway into the gravel all the time, so be careful when you do gravel vacs:%) also add a chunk of driftwood, they'll love you for the place to hide Enjoy them:88) heidi

Are they going to be all by them selves or with others?

I have just done a little research on them and Heidi's reply is spot on.

I will be buying three for my Betta tank in a few days.
