I have seen LFS in Sydney selling L168's for $45 each if you bought enough of them. Also adding to this there is alot of cat fish that are very similar to the L168's. So more varient's will come into the country labelled as 168's, but may infact be something else. A friend got some 168's from a LFS in sydney five days ago and they are infact 104's. He's not complaining about it.
Different Frotosa varients have been around for a while now ( not legally ), But I doubt they will become any cheaper for a while. Fish Above 12cm are only allowed, meaning they will probably be wild caught. These fish will cost over $300 each, as we still cant export them straight from Africa.

You need to be a frontosa fan to understand

The frontosa we have here now are just mostly the common Burundi.
And because we couldn't import frontosa to australia we couldn't bring in new blood for breeding. There fore making it hard to raise top quality fry.

[link=http://www.cichlid-forum.com/articles/frontosa_australia.php]http://www.cichlid-forum.com/articles/frontosa_australia.php" style="COLOR: #FFFF00[/link] This link has good info.

But now we can bring in new blood aswell as new different variants. This is very good news.

You think we need MORE frontosa?

Yes, the L168 aka Butterfly Pleco is allowed for import after October the 1st! It was announced recently by AQIS that the L168 went through and should be allowed for import after the 1st Oct 2005. One of the importers/lfs in Sydney already have 100pcs ready for import! For under $100AUD per adult (6-8cm), Im definately getting a couple!

I just cant wait!

Very nice indeed! I'll wait until their price goes down though before I consider buying any.

There were some others fish added to our import list not long ago aswell...
