Just wondering how could i stop my loaches from nibbling the plants, and leaves "leaves or leafs?" floating on top and ruins my aethetic appeal for the tank.

I dont mind cleaning the tank, but after i have cleaned my tank, the leaves just pile up again. .

Most of the loaches I've had preferred some sort of vegetable matter in their diet. Thus being the case, I'd supplement their diet with the occasional cucumber and/or tomato. Squash is good loach food as well.

try puttine a piece of lettece on the botton of the tank. anchor it down with a rock, the loaches might eat this instead. i know it has stopped my loaches in the past from completly destoying my plants.

Indeed, how many, and what size tank are they in? Are you sure they're getting fed enough? Are there any other fish in the tank that steal food from them?

Clown Loaches,

I have 5, each about 7cm in a 120ish litre tank, with 10 neons

Im pretty sure i feed them enough because they have a well rounded belly. . .this is done 2 times a day maximum.

Throw in some snails. That'll keep them busy and off your plants

I have never seen my clowns eating any plants at all. May be it is because they get a very large variety of foods. including vegitables, fruit, lambs liver, fresh fish (not aqu type), Flake, three different types of sinking pellets, Algae wafers also frozen Blood worms three times a week.

thanks, i thought the dried food and frozen food supplements were enough for my loaches.

From now on i ll add some veggies. But im a bit worried that it might foul up the tank overnight. .

I normaly feed the extras mid afternoon and always remove any left overs. Lettuce can break up into very small pieces and has to be netted out. It also has to be held down with a small rock. The tomato is held to a small rock with an elastic band.

i had a bad experience with cucumber or zuccini i cant remember, but neway i made the mistake of using melafix and a little too large peice of vegie. it clouded my tank good and killed 3 of my fish.

i feed my fish just flakes and my BNs and clown loaches pick the leftovers off the ground, or even sometimes go to the surface and grab peices. is it necessary to feed with vegies?? i add algae tables every now and then as a "treat" lol

Sorry to hear about your loss.

I dont think it is a case on necisity but a case of a good variety of foods for healthy fish.

I dont think you should blame the food for your loss. Sounds like too much food and not removed after a short time.

"mistake of using melafix" I use very little if any medication in my tank so I cannot comment on that.
