I am overrun with small snails and need a loach that can live with a severum. I;d like to have about three of them in my 36gal. bow front tank.
Thanks fo the help

3 Yo-yo loaches should work out okay. They're pretty tough and fast enough to get out of trouble should it arise.

Alternatively, you could try to reduce the snails in other ways. Cut down on feeding or stick a piece of cucumber in the tank before lights out (provided the severum won't eat it ) and take it out in the morning when it is covered in snails.

Sevrums are normally peaceful so any small botia would do. Zebras, yoyos, and kubotias are all good choices. Maybee even a few skunk loaches would be fine since the severum is much larger.

And Zebras are cute too!

Actually, they're just what I'm thinking of, in case my uninvited guest multiplies. And, having chatted with CLF about it, I may get 3 in any case!

I vote! Do you?

You can scoop, as much as you can with your hand & then you can add 3 Pakistani loaches (yoyo).

I also recommend to feed less, as that's how the pest snails will multiply faster.

Just doing a little reading on them the Yoyo would be perfect for your tank, also they do prefer their own company and a minimum of three is recommended. Depending on their size will depend how long it takes to remove all the snails. I suggest a manual method to be used as well. I have heard a lettuce leaf works well. I would not leave it in over night I would turn the light off for an hour or so and get them this way. The yoyo will also have to eat the eggs as well. Don't squash them in the tank if you have that many if you do you could easily pollute the tank.

Have a look in [link=My Profile] http://www.fishprofiles.com/forums/member.aspx?id=1935[/link] for my tank info
