Need a snail eating loach | |

I;d like to have about three of them in my 36gal. bow front tank. They're pretty tough and fast enough to get out of trouble should it arise. Alternatively, you could try to reduce the snails in other ways. Cut down on feeding or stick a piece of cucumber in the tank before lights out (provided the severum won't eat it ) and take it out in the morning when it is covered in snails. |

clownloachfan Fish Addict Posts: 660 Kudos: 850 Votes: 115 Registered: 10-Oct-2003 | Sevrums are normally peaceful so any small botia would do. Zebras, yoyos, and kubotias are all good choices. Maybee even a few skunk loaches would be fine since the severum is much larger. |

Depending on their size will depend how long it takes to remove all the snails. I suggest a manual method to be used as well. I have heard a lettuce leaf works well. I would not leave it in over night I would turn the light off for an hour or so and get them this way. The yoyo will also have to eat the eggs as well. Don't squash them in the tank if you have that many if you do you could easily pollute the tank.
